That's right Helen - He is sick when it suits (like when he doesn't want the food you give him  :evillaugh: )

It's a shame you can't get the vitamins here as  Pfizer animal health is down the road in Sandwich. Maybe I should get some in to be ready as long as the shelf-life is OK

He is due bloods in the next couple of weeks so will mention it then. He is looking really well at the moment and just cleared a bowl of raw steak mince  :sick:

I used to give Tiggy pet-tinic which is a palatable liquid iron supplement, you can only get it in the US.  It's an over the counter jobby not a prescription item so very safe and is highly thought of on the CRF yahoo list.

Ah, sorry, I didn't know that. I don't really like to scare people with CRF so I was backing off a little. If he's already renal, I'd probably just put it down to another one of the many bizarre symptoms and mention it when he goes for his bloods then.

I'd would say keep an eye out for changes in his eyes and symptoms of anaemia though.

Sorry again, didn't realise Clapton was a CRF cat  :hug:

Mark, found this on the crf bible....  If it is anaemia then it is treatable, when is Clapton due his next blood test?

I was trying to avoid mentioning the dreaded CRF but that's what I was hinting at. It's one of the many ambiguous symptoms, although once again, I'm sure Clapton will be fine, just keep an eye out.

Infection only accounts for 2% of bladder issues, more than likely stress...  :shy:

Mark, don't want to be alarmist either, but I've done a quick googling and eating litter can be a sign of anaemia, which from my experience with Reggie, CRF cats are susceptible to.

Forewarned an' all that...

He is very chirpy today and eating well. In fact he looks in better condition now than ever. Sleeping a lot but he always has.

Hi Mark, not wanting to add to the "scarey" list but last year my RIP Gnarla was eating litter and the vet said this is sometimes a sign that they are trying to absorb the toxins in their bodies....she had cancer, which spread from a tumour on her kidney's........ :hug: :hug: :hug:

Really sorry hun but I'd definately check for other symptoms and see, or at least speak to a vet.

Keep an eye on his drinking and, if you can, his toileting (amount of wee/consistency of stools if he uses his tray). I'm not going to say what it could be a symptom of as it's probably nothing but please please keep an eye on him for a few days.

The attempting to go behind the tray is because he doesn't want to use the tray. Again, this could be for several reasons, an infection-thus some pain when going or simply a smell or noise that he's taken a dislike to.

How old is Clapton? Does he have any health problems that you know of?

Might be wise to schedule a vet visit Mark, eating litter can be a sign of a deficiency in something, I forget what now. And I am not sure what Catsan litter it is, but if it is their clumping kind, I would be taking him asap, I know clumping litter can be serious in kittens, so I would assume it can also be serious in adults.

As far as I know, it hasn't been used as Clapton and Kylie have been using outside all the time. Really odd  :Crazy:
btw - it's Catsan. Wierdly, he won't touch dry food. He keeps going behind the tray as if he is going to pee but I give him a gentle warning and he comes out again. Then he wanted me to let him out in the garden. I wish I could get inside cats heads  :Crazy:
