I can only join all the other crazy cat ladies here and say that I too came to Purrs fromm CC when the doors close and now as Tan says we are CCs kitten and now being a year old I guess we are quite grown up

We work hand in hand with CC and we are a fully fledged fund raiser, and we started the auction originally on CC and we also have our own rescuers and loads of advice and help can be found here.

We also have the fun side which is also part of the fund raising and we have the non-cat chatting side too.

I am proud to be a member of Cat Chat and without it none of us would be here and Purrs would not either.

Cat Chat towers couldn't of said it better than to say " Purrs is like Cat Chat's kitten, it was born out of Cat Chat and is like family"  :) :)

I like that  ;D

Purrs is a very diverse forum.  It's primary purpose is to raise funds (and awareness) for all the poor furries who don't yet have a loving slave to cater to their every whim.  It's secondary purpose is for us cat lovers to chat about cats, offer advice and support and generally enjoy sharing stories with fellow cat obsessives lovers.

I was a "Cat Chatter" before and migrated to Purrs when they closed the forum down. I still visit because I want to know how the Cat Chat Cats are getting on.

It's on a much smaller scale than the one on here, but even so we're not doing badly. Everyone who's entered has paid, which is always a worry, thinking of ways to remind people without offending! (Only a week left BTW.)
Like I said on another thread, all the prizes are paid for separately so every penny raised will go to the rescue which, by a tortuous route brings me back on topic, as the rescue is one that has a page on........CatChat!

I didn't want to mention the fundraising 'cos I didn't want to remind myself how long we've got to wait for the auction!

  Dave it's only .......................Drum roll.................2 days away  ;D ;D ;D ;D. Have ya got Pimernel's orders in this year!! I am sure the loo rolls will be back up for bidding  :evillaugh: ;) ;D

Hows the cat show on FF?  I must say the cats are looking fantasic over there.  I am finding it hard to pic my pics to enter.  :-: esp as me Gizzy won the best comedy pic last year.  ;D ;D
All great fun though and going to a great cause.  ;D

Without Catchat, I'd not have found Bilbo and Baggins, nor been alerted to what rescues do day in day out. I saw the boys on Teresa's rehoming page there.

Yes Purrs main purrpose (cuse the pun  :evillaugh: ) is the more serious side of cat rescue support and fundraising for them and in turn helping the needy cats.  We have alot of cat rescues as members so alot of very very dedicated cat lovers here. The communinty part where the fun is helps give all our rescues a chance to wind down from the  cruelty they face everyday. Not only that but to keep a friendly, fun side of Purrs helps create a bigger comminuty for members and  therefore to raise more funds.  ;D

So nope we're not just a cat forum for fun.  There are cat forums who are though and they can be more suited to someone purely looking  just for the fun side.  :)

Thanks for the ad Tan!

Purrs is much like CatChat used to be, so it's only right that Purrs and CatChat are now, in effect, two branches of one forum. With CC the emphasis is on the more serious, but there's plenty of overlap, and you can get good advice here too.
Don't forget as well, there are links to pages of Rescues from CatChat's main page.

I use various forums and I understand there are people on here who's lives are based around cats, be it work related or just a deep love of cats. However I have a cat and come on here to look for amusing threads and so whilst I care, I have not really come here for the more serious side, if that makes sense. Thats why I was asking really.

Tan - Those sites seem dead compared to Purrs.

Hi Cat Chat is the wonderful site alot of us met on and when they had a break from their forum, Purrs started to continue the fundraising we started on there.

The forum on Cat Chat was only a small part, it is an excellent site that helps rehome so many cats all over the UK and that is their main purpose.

We now both work together  :)

Cat Chat is our spiritual home.  Without it Purrs would not exist.  The forums are only recently back up, but not as they were before.  They have a health and behaviour section, rescue, lost and found etc but no general cat chatting.   I post on there from time to time.

SpecialRed - I think you'll find a plethora of cat forums if you get googling  ;D

You took the words out of mouth Mojo!  ;)

Cat Chat is more to do with rescue and behavioural questions than just chatting SpecialRed. People mainly go on for specific advice re specific conditions.

Hope that helps
