The last time I put a tree up, I'd be watching TV and the tree'd be moving then Daves head'd pop out half way up it ...then once I'd gone up to bed I could hear peculiar knocking coming from downstairs and when curiosity got the better of me I went down to find Basil chasing a bauble [smashproof] around the room, batting it against the skirting boards  :tired:

I put it back on the tree, went back to bed and in the middle of the night...yep...bauble 0 - Basil 1  :evillaugh:

I am sure we can run a chrissy thread showing all antics in trees and damage etc

yes, fortunately Purrs does not do odorama or I would be able to share last years tree (actually year before last, didn't have one last year for obvious reasons) with you - after Ralph marked his territory and Shadow decided if it was OK for the cat, it was OK for him too ...  had to get the carpet shampooed after that effort ...

Does anyone else read Your Cat magazine?  The current edition has some pics of cats playing with Christmas decorations that readers have sent in - if only I'd thought to capture Bertie and Tilly's Christmas naughtiness on camera, I could have won a Whiskas stocking by now

;D Aw Gill that's a great idea! :) Maybe there could be a "Christmas Cats" section in the gallery as well? I have no doubt this year will be um, "memorable" if nothing else!
Here's Riley's reaction to his first ever tree:

Even nice cute pictures of kittys among the pressies and the boxes and the paper, wopping an odd Chrissy decoration, having Chrissy Dinner and the afternoon or evening Chrissy flake out  :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

Love that story  ;D

I wonder if anyone else on Purrs would do a similar thing? ;)

perhaps Leigh could on his new "Alfie" website. What do ya reckon?

Great website! Riley went a bit bonkers with the tree last year - he was 6 months at the time. We now have Skye, who will be about 7 months by Christmas, plus 20 month-old Riley *sigh* - the tree doesn't stand a chance. We always get the plastic baubles and fluffy pom-pom decorations made of feathers - if they are going to treat them like toys anyway, they may leave them a bit bald, or bat the under the sofa, but at least they won't smash :tired:
Berties Mum - that little story had me giggling like an idiot - getting some very dissapproving feline glares now! (Its their nap-time)

And in the midst of it all, my present wrapping evening went a bit wrong when I left the room and returned to find that Bertie had rolled Matilda up inside some wrapping paper, meowing pitifully ... when I managed to untangle her, Bert was so excited to see her that he then had a wee on the remaining wrapping paper and I ended up scouring the 24-hour supermarket for more paper at 11pm on the 23rd ... ah, the joys of kittens at Christmas

 I'm having the funniest visions of this  :evillaugh:

Bertie and Matilda's first Christmas - they were 3 months old - was a real adventure for them but a total disaster for me.  I have a policy going back to childhood of only putting my decorations up on the day after my birthday, which is Dec 12, so on Dec 13 that year, I dutifully put up my tree.  By the 15th, I had taken it down again after coming home to find all the decorations under the sofa and the tree at a 45 degree angle with a kitten straddling the branches.  It went back up on the 24th, and came down on the 26th, and had to be binned, so bad was the damage!!!

I was going to be all scrooge like and not put the tree up as it the boys' first Christmas and I can't see it lasting more than 10 minutes.  As Christmas has drawn closer and I've started getting a little bit excited I changed my mind on the tree front.... am not so sure after seeing that though  :evillaugh:

I remember seeing this one last year (I think it was last year!)

They are fab pics, but I hope my tree survives a bit more than theirs this year  :evillaugh:

To think I might not see those eyes, makes it so hard not to cry, and as we say our long goodbyes, I nearly do.
