Do you think that it is possible that he may have damaged his pancreas?  My cat has an abnormality showing on his pancreas they think due to scarring from pancreatic attacks.  Might be worth asking?

Thanks, no news they are going to call me tonight, but they said they are going to do all the tests again and also doing ultrasound again because there was a shadow in his pancreas last time the other vet xrayed, but she said the same thing, bowel cancer or severe bowel inflammatory but she also said operating is his condition is dangerous and also if i dont consider chemo is no point of operating to take thicker layers, so i really dont think there is anything else they can do except start him on thyroid tablets and then cortison, and i will never know if it was cancer or bowel inflammatory ?!

She also said i can pick him up tomorrow,so i will know more when i go back   :(

Hi everyone, Caroline managed to make an appointment for this morning at 9am for BOY in Queen mother hospital for animals in heartfordshire, i collectd the referal and all his files and privious Xrays ferom Caroline late last night and we should be on our way soon, Caroline said this is the best thing to do because they have specialists there and his case is really complicated,so i know they are going to keep BOY there at least for todayto do more tests and then hopefully they will be able to help him. All this because of one mistake, Caroline said if his case was straight forward she wood give him cortison but no it is not straight forward and my poor BOY has to go through all this tests again, this morning i feel really angry with my old vet >:(

So if you have few free minutes just pray that things go well for Boy and me. :thanks:

You know I feel so angry and frustrated for you so goodness knows how you must be feeling. Poor BOY and poor you.  This cat is ill because of the negligence of your previous vet.  I was disappointed to read that his current vet wants to pass him on and can only hope and pray that you find a vet you can have complete confidence and trust in and that this will be rewarded by consistent and safe care for your cat.  My thoughts are with you and I so wish I could do something to help you.

I just spoke to Caroline and asked her if she can do the referal,  since it takes few weeks for them to give me the appointment and meanwhile if she can help me  talking me through what i should and shouldnt do over the phone , since she cant do home visit and i will pay for her time she spend on the phone because its kind of consultation and she is happy to do this,so she told me she is going to send me a prescription for his tablet which is going to finish tomorrow and she said its better if  while waiting for the specialist appointment, we start the treatment for his tyroied and she will send them in post to me and she said i have to monitor his weight, becos if he start loosing weight tooquick then that is not good sign for his condition.

I asked her why do i need to go to this specialist if he cant take cortison and put him through all the tests again, and she said in cats their conditions change sometime on daily basis so its best  to do so, but if Christine can give me her vets name i would like to go and see them aswell.

Gill thankyou so much for the information and thankyou every one from both of us.

She also said the place in camden , areall students but the one in heartfordshire are with high deploma so its better to go there, and there they can tell me if we can treat his ulcers first and whats best.   :thanks:

I can't help you with vets Pav, but I just wanted to say I'm so sorry for what your'e going through, it all seems so 'up in the air', and no-one is giving you guidance as to what's best for Boy. Can Caroline continue to prescribe his current medication for the time being, until you find another suitable vet?

Yes it is the same one as Caroline told me in heartford shire  and i just realised they have a smaller one in camden which is really close to me, but what worries me is that they will have to do all the tests on him again and he already has been in and out of vets since 6th of November, he has been throgh so much may be while  wait for appointments with this place i should go and see another vet for second opinion.

SO PLEASE if any one knows of a good vet which they trust in London let me know. Thankyou every one.

Yes Gill the ulcers are because of wrong med and also the reason she doesnt want to operate to take a thick layer for biopsy is because of norocarp , thats why they cant say if its bowel inflamentary or cancer .

I live in NW2 which is Kilburn and i dont mind to travel but i dont want to stress BOY , I was wondering if anyone here knows of a good vet in London which can recommend just for second opinion again. all day today i was on line looking for vets but dont know which one to call?
Thats why if some one can recommend one, which they have used would be great, You are right i need to take all his papers and xrays and ask them what s best to do?

Caroline hasbeen great till now but my impression was she doesnt want to be involve anymore  and i think she cant see paitent in surgery , only she can use the place to operate, but to be honest the surgery is one of the worse in order to comunicate and customer care and service and on sunday when i was waiting to other people there were very unhappy aswell!!

Boy has been eating and drinking since friday which i brought him home and hasnt been sick , which is good but once this medication i have finishes then i dont know what will happen, and that is tomorrow so i need to find a place really soon.
Thankyou so much for your advise Gill.

Oh Pav, what a terrible situation.

I think you are right to want to know if the ulcers can be treated before doing anything else, were these caused by the wrong meds? If so then maybe payment for treatment , if it is possible should come from the old vet but I am sure you are far to worried about Boy to think of this at the moment.

I think either Caroline or the surgery who has been traeting him should advise you and I dont think they should off load their responsibilites like this. You need a good vets practice near to you who can sit down with copies of all his records and talk this through with you but it does need to be done very fast I think.

Is there a good practice anywhere near you who could do this, maybe others in London could advise? Where abouts in London are you? I believe that my brother has a good vet and that is Enfield but whether he has expertise on this kind of thing I do not know.

I cant believe that in London there are not places with good facilities and knowledge, one thought would a ring to the Vets Association maybe give a lead on a good vet? Would PDSA or Battersea Dogs home take Boy on as an urgent private patient I wonder?

I wish I could give some good advise but I just dont know what you can do, except to go through the telephone book or Yell.com on internet and ring around. Boy needs looking after to get him through Christmas and I am sure this is all very urgent.

I am afraid all this makes me very angry and if it was my cat I would be going crazy. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know

Hi every one, i need some advise , i really dont know what is best to do for BOY anymore?
On my last post i said Caroline was going to have a meeting with sean and decide whats best for BOY, he has severe bowel inflammentary or bowel cancer, but i was told the treatment is the same, cortisons and maybe light chemo.

I got a call from Caroline yesterday leaving me a message to say we have to talk about Boy's treatment , so i text her and said if she is in the surgery and i can go and see her to discuss things because no one in that place talk to me and on saturday i had to waite more than one hour till the vet found out what medication Boy needs, no one left the details in the computer!!
Last night i got the call from Caroline saying she was really busy all day and then she said since she doesnt have a surgery she can not monitor Boy and because i am not in her area she cant visit him all the times and also the vet surgery she does the ops in there are very busy and she knows there are many vets working there and its fine if it was basic care but Boy needs more.
She also said she doesnt want to give Boy , cortison because of the ulcers and the norocarp even that is out of his system but damage has been done, so i asked but can he be treated for his condition and she said its not can he its if he can take the medication.

Then she said i have to option:
1- Go back to my old VET :-:          OR 2- Get a referal to specialist? Royal collage of veternary in potters bar or Davies surgery in Hartfordshire
and she said i have to tell you the cost will be thousands and also they have to do all this tests on him again?
I dont mind how much it cost i get the money from my credit card and sort it later! But if he cant have cortisons what is the point of putting him through all the tests and travelling, i live in london and going to those places takes a while .
Now i really dont know what to do, i asked her if she can callme today, becoz she was in a hurry last night and kept saying she is late, but i want to know can his ulcers be treated first and then next step or we dont have the luxury of time/ I know its a long post but if any one can think of whats right please i appreciate it. :thanks:

I had a call from Caroline this evening, she said the biopsy result has come, doesnt show everything becos its from top layers but she said she think severe bowel inflamation but because there is a shadow there aswell it could be bowel cancer :(  Sadly the only way to find out which is to operate and take a thick layers for biopsy and she does not want to operate becoz of the norcarp and the other injection. This wrong medicines has made everything so complicated.

But she said the treatment for both cases are similar! I asked if it involves chimo? She said sometimes but a light one, she said she would like to talk it over with the other vets tomorrow and then she will call me late afternoon.

Yes he has been well since friday, hasnt been sick but thats because of the injections everyday. Hopefully i will know more tomorrow. :thanks:
