Aww, fingers crossed he continues to do well. If it is cystitis by stress, they can give the 2 week ab jab, so you might not have to give him tabs.

Thankyou, yes he did take the leukeran last night and i didnt go to work today in case he gets really sick ,cos Caroline told me last week not to start on weekend in case i had to take him to the vet and there are only emergency vets are there not the usuall ones, so i wasnt sure if i should leave him alone to day or not , but finger crossed he hasnt been sick since taking the new med, next one is due on thursday and am just praying that he doesnt get the side effects.

He has started spraying , but i was told by some one here to mention it to Caroline , it might be urinary infection due to stress and not being well, Thankyou so much for the advice , i just hope he doesnt have to take more tablets.

Helen you are right, he is a fighter and i never thought of him as one :), Thankyou for every ones kind words and support, it means a lot to  :)Boy and me.

Gill,i do hope so. I asked Caroline and she said she has prescribed it for many cats before and its more gentle for animals than human cos of dosage so the side effects are minimum, and he might get sick for first day or two but she said she recommend this and thesteroid , also if he has pancreatic cancer this treatment may help!

Thankyou Gill, i have to say i was against chemo from the begining and told the vet in RVC and thats one of the reasons she said since i dont consider chemo then there is no point in doing surgery to find if the mass in Boy,s pancreas is inflammation or cancer but she also said animals dont react to chemo like humans and they get sick at the start and then it stops but she also said with chemo i have to take him every week for blood test and injection and she said you have to see if your cat is the type which thankyou for this or not and i would not do this to Boy putting him through the stress of blood test and trips to vet week after week but with this tablet he need to go once a month for blood test and i can give him at home so he wont get stress about the trip to vet, and also Caroline mentioned with steroid treatment is best to put him on leukeran.
I did go to the site and saw that it mention people only? Thankyou for mentioning the questions,i am going to ask her tomorrow and i know all medicine have side effects but if in any way it makes him uncomfortable i will not put him through it, i belive in quality of life and for sake of few months if, i will not put him through this, thats why i asked if any one knows or has any experiance with this drug.
I would love to have him with us for as long as possible but this is about him not me and i promised my self that i never make the same mistake as i did with DD.
Dawn thankyou so much for the info,i read it and now i will put the questions Gill mentioned to Caroline. Bless youx
Thankyou Desley, now that i know a bit more ,Boy wont start any med till we are sure.x

I think thats the one I have come up with too

http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100001493.html

but its a medicine that is used for humans and I didnt find any cat info........Sam is far better at searching stuff than me so if she sees this maybe she can see if she can find any cat info.

Definately as Caroline described to you but I know that chemo drugs can make people feel very sick and Alison will be able to confirm this.

My questions to Caroline would be:

1. Has this been used on cats before and what success did it have

2. Will it make Boy feel nausious and stop him eating, or actually make him vomit.

I called Caroline to see if she called the vet in RVC, but she said she forgot and will do tomorrow, but yesterday when i told her that i was told Boy has 6-8 weeks she was surprised! She said with lymphoma Boy still have months or even one year and only if the mass in his pancreas is cancer and not inflammation then he has short time and since we dont know if it is pancreatic cancer unless we do surgery then its not possible to say 6-8 weeks? I know its not really good news because he does have the intestine cancer but atleast there is hope that if the mass in pancreas is not tumour then he might have longer. She also said she wants to talk to them just to check about this and also to start him on a tablet called LEUKERAN at the same time as the steroids.
Does any one know about Leukeran? She said is like a light chemo treatment but he doesnt have to go every week for blood test and injection, only i have to stop him from going out so he doesnt catch anything apparently taking this tablet affect his immune system?
Today Is 5 days that Boy hasnt been sick but he is gone off his D/D venison diet and i had to give him normal food today.!!

I hope Boy gets sorted out soon, you and he really need a break

My vets made a mistake with Kara's steroids before xmas but I only collared Sean about it today and he wasn't impressed.  She was meant to have 5mg twice daily and luckily I know the tablets well as she's been on them a while, but the receptionists had actually given her 25mg tablets which I could easily have given her two of.  On the label Sean had printed, it had 5 mg.  I took the box in today for Sean to look at to see if he could spot the mistake, he asked if he could keep the box and went through and  :censored:  the receptionist.  He said mistakes like this shouldn't happen and he apologised and asked if I had realised straight away, luckily I had, but most people wouldn't as the tablets are only marginally bigger than her usual ones.  He also realises if a complaint was put in, it would more than likely fall on his shoulders as he was the vet that prescribed them.

Big  to you, Boy, Phoebe and Tramp and I'm keeping everything crossed, xxxxxx
