Pav
I merely wondered about poss diabetes because of suspected Pancreatic tumour and also the spraying, I have known several formerly clean cats begin to wet outside of tray and spray as a result of undetected diabetes, just thought it may explain the spraying.
Sending lots of positive vibes to you

I suspect but dont know that the leukeran can produce all sorts of weird results at the beginning and Caroline would know about these and whether Teresas thought is a possibility, and whether it is too early to test.

Question for those with cats with diabetes and Teresa, do they tend to spray like Boy is and do they say get caught short cos a human could.

I had asparagus in Wagamama yesterday so the smell was fresh (if that's the right word) in my mind  :evillaugh:[/color]

Sorry to go off the topic a bit BUT Mark, what the chuff is Wagamama! I dread to think what the answer's gonna be.  :evillaugh:

Has Caroline tested Boys urine recently to rule out diabetes ?
Hi Teresa, No cos he started the steroid and the Leukeran only 2 weeks ago, so he has to go in once a month for blood test and she told me to buy some Katkor so i can take the sample here at home and take it to them, do you think i should ask them to do it now? Boy next appointment is 13th Feb. Thanks

Thank you Mark! I really like the way you described it.

Gill, when ever Boy sprayed before i used to wash it with biological powder and then spray surgical spirit and it really helped but since i got the s.soloution i thought is no need for that but thanks i will start with bio powder and then the rest, atleast he doesnt do it on the carpet which is good! Well my sunday is sorted now moving things around and more cleaning ;D
I used to have felaway dispenser in the bedroom for Phoebe , for the first few months and i think it helped. I get some more tomorrow from the vet. Thankyou so much Gill for the advice.

Medication can make it smell strong and I hope he is Ok . Spraying every where is not good though and sorta sounds like he is upset.

Have you tryed cleaning all the areas down with a biological washing powder before using the simple solution and then maybe using a felaway dispenser to see if that helps him to calm down.

I am sure that Caroline will give you the best advice

Clapton's wee smells strong now - I think it's either the Fortekor or the CRF causing it. I have to completely change the tray every other day. It reminds me of human wee after you have had asparagus (sorry but no other way to explain it  :-[ )

Hi Desley, i think the smell is simply cos he is weeing  every where and even though i am using simple soloution to clean and wipe but since he is not using the tray it smells  :-:  I dont think its infection but i will ask Caroline.

I think something is upseting Boy or may be is cos he is not well??! The smell is not pleasent and i am trying so hard to keep where he wees clean and i even put extra tray where he wee as you said but then he does it some where else??

Pav, if his wee is smelling, you need to speak to Caroline, the only reason I knew Pebbles had a UTI was strong smelling wee (she still used the tray though), so it can be a sign of infection, as can spraying.

Dragan is a hero (see separate thread), doing fine at present, vet just said results should be back by Thursday.  I know what you mean about not minding the cleaning up!  Probably is the neighbouring cat upsetting poor BOY.

There are more than one tray in the flat, Boy and Phoebe have seperate trays and there is an extra one aswell just in case!May be there are toomany :naughty: But he never used to do this before unless its the presence of Flyn the ginger cat which has moved in with my neighbour which is upsetting him, but to be honest i dont mind i am just happy that he is not getting sick the rest we can deal with. :)

How is Dragon, and have they told you when you getting the blood test result?

Glad to hear he is doing so well Pav.  What a lovely time for you both right now.  Perhaps a second tray might help?  I was reading the other day that some cats like to poo on one tray and wee on another!

Thankyou every one, i was telling my neighbour earlier that its Boy's second week on Leukeran and steroid and touch wood he hasnt been sick at all :), so i must say he is doing well and i am so pleased because he has been through so much that he deserves to have some good time , even if is for short time . He is booked for 13th February for his blood test and they have to monitor this cos its light chemo , the only thing i cant understand is why he doesnt use the tray at all for his wee, he use it for his poo but then walk to the same place which he used to spray and wee there and eventhough i wash it everyday with simple soloution and clean it he goes back and do it ? I know Caroline said its not a problem him spraying cos he's done it before and i dont mind to clean it everyday but its a bit odd!!

But have to say Boy is a happy Boy at the moment , :thanks:

I have just read this whole thread through (I don't get on here huge amounts) and it's absolutely heartbreaking. I really feel for you both - what a horrible experience.

I don't really know what to say - I can't really offer advice and there are others far more knowledgeable than me on this board. I just want you to know that my thoughts are with you and BOY and I hope that you and he will find some use and respite with the meds.

Hug to you and gentle headrub for BOY.

Thankyou,Boy is fine, had his injection yesterday and i told Caroline about spraying but she didnt think its a problem. I dont mind, the other day i ordered lots of s.soloution so i keep cleaning the place and he does it only in one place , good Boy ;D

Tonight i have to give him the second leukeran tablet and basicly he is going to be taking steroid and the leukeran for rest of his days.
I also have to take him every 4 weeks for blood test.

I also spoke to Caroline about when the time comes for Boy to go, since she doesnt do home visit in our area and i am really concerned after what happened with DD and i dont want him to go through that since the vets in this surgery are not keen to handel him,and Caroline said at times like this she travels every where and she doesnt mind.
And we are going to take every day as it comes and make the most of the time we have together.
