unfortunatley I think in the older generation this might be an issue, my mil is Italian and would definately not class her self as peasant stock lol!  She did however beg us not to get another black cat after Bluto died, we didn't but that was because we felt bad for him

I wonder where those figures come from?
Possibly some ignorant country peasants might be superstitious but I can't imagine the average Italian being that ignorant.

I remember once someone telling me that Greeks would be terrified of me as my eyes are quite blue and they believe that people with blue eyes can put a curse on you  :evillaugh: - at the time we agreed it was probably a few peasants that believed that kind of thing.

I'm just hoping it is a myth  :scared:

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

That's awful, I love black kitties (not that I'm biased or anything).  Such a shame they are still believed to bring bad luck :'(

To think I might not see those eyes, makes it so hard not to cry, and as we say our long goodbyes, I nearly do.

:( poor poor innocent little souls.

Maybe if Pope Benedict got himself a black cat things would change for the better for these special little kitties.

I read that he is a great cat lover and, before he moved to the Vatican, had two himself.  I even read that he pops back to his former housekeeper to visit them whenever he can.  If that is more than PR, then he should be moved to speak out about the black cats  :'(

In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.
