I have this one on my wall, in honour of all my Bridge babies

I too, would make a Will if I could write
To some poor, wistful, lonely stray
I leave my happy home
My dish, my cosy bewd, my cushioned chair, my toy.
The well loved lap, the gentle stroking hand, the loving voice
The place I made on someone's heart.
the love that at the last
Could help me to a peaceful, painless end, held in loving arms.
If I should di
Oh, do not say
"No more a cat I'll have to griieve me by it's loss"
Seek out a lonely, unloved cat and give it my place to him.
This is my legacy.
The love I leave behind.
T'is all I have to give.

Margaret Trowton

So, when I feel I can't do my rescue anymore, like after the devastating loss of Gizmo or when things seem to be going all wrong, I read this and know that my little babies would want me to help another now that they don't need me anymore in this world.
Even the smallest feline is a masterpiece (Leonardo da Vinci)

That is a lovely poem Michelle, I have never heard that one before.
Our bridge babes are never forgotten, but the pain gets easier.

Thanks Michelle, that's lovely.

It's odd how I'll just be sitting sometimes and I'll get the fleeting thought "I miss Parsley." I assume that will always happen. I hope she's happy where she is. :)

So natural JS -

Some days i dont think about my Bridge babies but then just like you have said i will suddenly "miss" one of them.
Time really is a great healer, You never ever forget them but time does take the intense pain away.

I will always miss my babies -
^Marmite^ was killed 5yrs ago yesterday and i had quiet a tearful day full of sadness and regrets.

^Parsley^ will always live on in my heart and although you will always miss her, time does heal the hurt xxxxx

Thought we could make this into a poem thread -
So have added one

No one woke me at dawn this morning, no soft little paw tapped my face.
No one purred down at me from my pillow. Our home is a hushed, empty place.

No warm litle body lies between us, no soft snores lull us to sleep.
We disturb no one when we toss and turn. There's no vigilance to keep.

We can no longer laugh at drops of water, forever hanging from your chin.
But memories linger, like mouse laid out over biscuits - a forgivable sin.

The magic box has no fish to zap. Gourmet prune juice is thrown away.
No one sits on your chair at mealtimes. No snuggle-up times today.

The fridge in the corner is unguarded. No one sits for hours staring at its door.
But there's still fur on the chairs and settee; we found a whisker on the floor.

Your territory is undefended. Old enemies roam freely through your grass.
But your special door stays open, to welcome any stangers who may pass.

From three weeks to eighteen years, our friendship grew and grew.
From little scrap to devoted pal we were the only family you ever knew.

When your body gave up, your mind stayed proud. I know it was for your sake.
We had to take the terrible decision - the worst that any of us can make.

We spent the day together in the sunshine. You tried so hard to stand tall.
Then, with love we held you gently and as you left our tears began to fall.

Now when I think of you, I pretend there is an extra special little star above.
And I gaze up at the sparkling night sky with so much thanks and love.

I find it really difficult to read the Rainbow Bridge section, but wanted to pass on my condolences to everyone that has lost a furbabe. (Recently or not, sometimes it doesn't matter how long ago something happened the hurt still feels the same.)

I found a couple of poems that I wanted to post on here. They both make me think of Parsley, but the first one especially.

She Is Gone

You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she's gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and lose your mind,
be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

I’m Not There

Don’t stand by my grave and weep
For I’m not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamonds glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circle flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry .
I am not there, I did not die.
