Test Results are in.....  vet has just phoned me to let us know... and its kinda good news!  :)  we think!   :scared:

The mass turned out to be a malignant tumour.   With a cyst like centre???  go figure.  Even the vet is a little puzzled but basically they believe there is a high chance that the tumour will return and if so, she will have to had an op to have it removed 'much sooner rather than later' to ensure it doesn't turn cancerous!

So, all in all its a relief for now but we'll just have to keep a real close eye on her over the next few weeks and months.

She is looking much brighter today which is great to see and once her stitches come out next Monday we're planning on taking her back down to her foster home with Mum so that she can rest where she feels comfortable and safe.  Fingers crossed that all goes well (and touching every bit of wood in sight!!!)

Thanks again to everyone for all your kind wishes and positive vibes... Jorie and I both appreciate it greatly!  ;D  and send our  :Luv2:

Hi guys,

Well fingers, paws, toes, etc crossed she is looking really bright this morning.  The swelling on her neck has come back up a 'little' overnight but hoping that it will stay as it and doesn't get any bigger!!   :Nooooo:

She seems nice and bright in herself tho which is great news.  :)

Called the vet this am just to let them know what happened over the weekend and to find out if we should be diving her back in.  Basically just got to keep a close eye on the swelling.  If it continues to get bigger then yes she'll have to go back in so just hope it doesn't and therefore no further complications with the surgery!

Whilst on the phone they did mention that they are expecting the results either late this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon of her biopsy / tumour histology.  Dreading the results... but got everything crossed I can that it is good news not bad!!!  :o

Jorie sends her thanks for all the good wishes heading her way  :)

Well our hearts are in our mouths again a bit this morning!!!   :scared:  :scared:

Got up and checked on Jorie first thing and her pen is absolutely covered in blood drops and spray!!!!    :oh noo:

The wound is clean enough and isn't open and isn't still bleeding but its obviously done a fair bit through the night!!!  gawd and my nerves were starting to settle a little with her!!!  :oh noo:

The swelling on her neck has gone down some this morning too so it looks like a lot of it was a build up of blood from the leaky blood vessels.   Will have to keep a VERY watchfull eye on her today and if the swelling increases she'll be heading straight back in.    :agree:

cats...  the worry we go through for them!!!!    fingers crossed all goes OK today tho and this is just a 'blip' in the process as we're both really worried about her!   :scared:

Just a wee update for you all.

Jorie is looking a bit brighter today which is good but her neck is still REALLy sore looking and puffy.  Bless her.  When you walk over to speak to her she gets excited and the back end flies up in the air with the front slowly rising with obvious signs of "oh oooh ah oooh ah ouch that's sore!!! "    :owwww:    and yet she doesn't whimper or anything bless her.  She must be in so much pain when she moves her wee head.

We have made up a wee 'cocoon' for her almost with towels so that she has support for her to lean against and to keep her head and neck supported whilst she rests, which I think she is thankfull for.

We haven't went for the socks adn tape option yet as she is so sore I don't think she'd even touch it if she wanted to.  ALso, we don't want to stress her out at all and risk the wound getting knocked.

We did have a wee scare last night as the wound must have bled and when I went back to check on her there were a couple of round areas of blood and blood spatter over her bed!!!  :oh noo: :o  gave us a wee fright so watched her like a hawk last night and today.

Hopefully the swelling will start to come down tomorrow slightly but if not we may take her back into the vet Monday to get them to check it just in case its a build up of fluid / blood.

I've attached a couple of pics to let you see how she is doing.  The first couple just show Jorie herself... and of course her sticking her tongue out at me!!!  The last pic I have tried to show her wound but not very easy to do with her in the pen and trying to keep her head straight and not look at camera as I'm snapping blindly not knowing if I have got it right... so hence its rather blurry but gives you the idea of how her wee neck looks.

Jorie sends her thanks for all the kind wishes with some purrs and head bumps.

Hugs &Purrs

Hi Guys,

Well I've just gone to collect Jorie and bring her home.   Bless her... even I went 'ooooh' when I saw the wound on her neck!!!

She is brighter today and although was hiding at the back of the pen when I went for her... a few pet names and coo-ing and she soon came over to say hello and when she realised it was me... the sudden.... aarrgghh  Mum get me outa here!!!!   :)  bless her.

I have her in a nice cosy pen area for now so that I can keep a close eye on her throughout the day and night.  But we have to be very carefull to make sure she doesn't aggravate the wound as we have been told that due to the invasive nature of the surgery there are a number of small blood vessels that are in danger of leaking (this was the problem yesterday) and we'd have to dive her back in again if that happened.   :scared:

I have sock and tape at the ready for the back legs to get done when hubby gets home (defo a 2 man job!)   ;)

Vet reckons we should defo have the results back by early in the week so keeping everything crossed until then!!   :scared:        The tumour had started under the muscle but had also attached itself to the muscle so she is really sore and I'm sure she will be for a good few days.  Will try to get a pic later to let you see how she is.

Thanks to everyone for all the kind thoughts, wishes and crossed toes, fingers and whiskers.  We all really appreciate it and Jorie sends her thanks.   :Luv:

Will keep you updated on her progress later today.   :shy:

The results which came back were that it was a benign Vaccine Associated Sarcomas, basically a tumour at the vaccine site on the scruff of his neck.  The tumour was fluid and contained some of the booster vaccine, it has just attached itself to muscle thankfully.

I woudl be relieved if that was what it is... oh yeah... just not sure as according to the vet the start of the mass was down under her muscle in the neck.  Poor wee mite.

I'm just back from having popped out to collect them both back from the vet but have only come back with my spay.  They don't want to let Jorie go yet as it seems she has taken a bad reaction on coming out of the anaesthetic and also her wound keeps bleeding so they want to keep her overnight to keep a closer eye on her.  I popped through to see her and bless her she is totally out of it.  Don't think she even realised that it was me.  Mind you she's probably in shock too after her ordeal today.

Hopefully I'll get her back in the morning and just have to keep fingers crossed for now and hope that the test results next week come back with good news.

I've added a wee pic to this post to let you see Jorie when she first came to us and wouldn't come out of hiding behind the toilet!!!!

Such a sweet wee girl she really doesn't deserve this... she's had enough *&$%* in her wee life. :(

Good luck, have you had any news as yet?  About 3 years ago i took Jet to my vet as he had a lump growing very quickly on his neck and i like you was really worried.  The vet suggested we monitor it but i said no i want it dealing with and they refused so i moved to another vet the same day and the next day Jet was having an op to remove it.  I was so worried while waiting for the results as it had to be sent off.

The results which came back were that it was a benign Vaccine Associated Sarcomas, basically a tumour at the vaccine site on the scruff of his neck.  The tumour was fluid and contained some of the booster vaccine, it has just attached itself to muscle thankfully.

Jet's continued to have his boosters and thankfully we've had no further problems with him.

Hope everything is ok for your little furbabe too

Reading this brought memories back of little Bob  :'(  :'(  He had a tumour in his neck but when they had a look, it was actually in his Oesophagus so they couldn't do anything with it.  I'm glad they've managed to remove the tumour on this little one and I'm keeping everything crossed, the surgery will have sorted her.  Good luck and keep us posted,  , xxx

thanks guys.  Really appreciate the support and I'm sure Jorie does too.

I've just phoned the vets to see how she is.  Vet is a little puzzled as to 'exactly' what it is... but the description for now is a fluid filled tumour. :o

They have successfully managed to remove the tumour from her neck and it is being sent off to the lab for tests to see if we can find out exactly what it is and what it means for this wee one.

I was going to take her back down to her foster home at mums as we're choc a bloc full.... but have had a word with hubby and we are going to do some moving about and set up a cage where we can keep a really close eye on her.  Vet says we have to be carefull to make sure she doesn't get at this wound... so this is going to be fun!! :loon:

Time to dig out socks we thinks for those back feet!!   will let you all know how she is when I pick her up in a couple of hours.

thanks again guys.
