He is gorgeous isn't he and such a sweet natured boy.  He is away hiding under the bed again, he has been out and spent some time downstairs on his fleece and having cuddles.  I think he has worked out that he is relatively safe in the evening and when I am in bed but once I am up and about there is a chance I might put him in that hated basket and take him to the horrible hospital.  He is eating, drinking, weeing and pooing so I am not worrying too much - checking on him though and he will go back tomorrow for his post op check.

I rang the vets they said so long as he is eating and drinking (which he is, he just demolished his lunch under the bed!) not to worry too much, he might feel a bit of sensitivity and he may just want some peace and quiet to sleep without his fussy mum pestering him.  Said if I am still worried later they will squeeze him in.  Oh don't they worry you to pieces?

What a pretty boy  Thank you so much Helen

Dont know whether to worry or not right now as he is hiding under the bed.  Unsure whether he is uncomfortable or just avoiding me in case I take him somewhere he doesn't want to go.  Has eaten and will take him some lunch upstairs in a moment.  Am going to monitor him and if necessary ring the vet

I have emailed two pix to Helen who kindly offered to "deal" with them for me.  They are not particularly good quality though as they were taken on a phone.

He is brilliant this morning has eaten a plateful of food and been his usual vocal self and is now watching tv again on his fleece on the armchair.

I forgot to say in my previous post that he was only 4 weeks old when my mum found him.

So pleased it went well  :) The boys have finally uncrossed their paws, they were getting a bit annoyed as they kept falling over  :evillaugh:

If you can't figure out to post Dragan's pic then feel free to email it to me and I can resize and post it for you, my email add is in my profile - click on my name to see it.

OK Ummmmmmmmmm

You need to resize picture so it no bigger than 150kb and then you just hit browse below where you type and find it on your puta and post LOL.

Or shove it in photobucket and post from there, I found out that is so easy a couple of days ago.

He's home and I cannot believe it, you would not know he had had an anaesthetic today.  He is bright as a button.  Ate a big bowl of food at the vet hospital and another just now and is currently watching tv on his fleece on the armchair (he likes tv).  The vet nurse said he is fantastic for a 17 year old cat, very strong (despite his pancreatitis and slightly wobbly back legs),  They took out the infected tooth and scaled and polished the rest and she said his teeth are excellent for his age.  He has a post op check on Friday which he does not have to go to if I am ok with his progress but think I will take him anyway just to be on the safe side.

He had a drip this time which he didn't have last year and the difference in his recovery is remarkable.

Thank you all again for the wonderful support you have given me on this very stressful day.

Dragan sends you all a big purry headbutt and kiss.

Thank you all so much for your caring concern for my special old boy.  I just spoke to the hospital and he is doing fine and I can collect him anytime.  Will pick him up about 6.30 as have to drive across city and it takes double time during the rush hour which means he would be fretting in his basket for longer than necessary.

Will update once I have picked him up and thank you all again.

His name is DragAn.  It is Yugoslavian and he was named after a friend of ours.  He was born in a feral colony that my mum used to feed and one day (whilst I was in Yugoslavia) she found him alone and starving in a back alley.  His bones were poking out and his eyes were stuck together.  She brought him to my house where my daughter was and they took him to three different vets.  Our current vet at the time suggested putting him to sleep saying he had cat flu and letting them know how much it would cost!  Not to be defeated they wanted a second opinion.  The second vet said the same but my daughter is not one for giving up.  Eventually she found a vet close by our house (we had never been there before).  This vet said he had conjunctivitis and that is why he hadn't been able to find food.  He cleaned up his eyes, gave him a shot and wouldn't take any money for doing it.  17 years later this is the old man who just had some teeth out.  How glad am I that my daughter and mum wouldn't just go with what the vets suggested, they would have deprived me of 17 years of this incredible cat's company and love.  He is a sweet loving vocal little darling and I am so looking forward to seeing him. :thanks:

Well he's gone in (left me a little tearful I am afraid).  Little so and so managed to snatch a moutfhul of grass first thing.

He is having the preop bloods done again and will be on a drip.  Said I could phone if they haven't phoned me between 2pm and 4pm so it's a finger biting wait.

Thanks to you all for your messages of support they mean a lot, will keep you updated with any news.
