Has anyone managed to find out which site or who it was that posted the original message yet?  :)

That's great you manage to do that Ela, and yes I do agree that sites should be updated regularly... certainly not left for years without updates (as I know many here are).  I do my best and the main site is generaly updated at least 2/3 times a month with constants updates and news on our forum pages including all our lost and founds, etc.

but at the end of the day the priority is getting the cats re-homed.

I agree with that but think it is very important to amend the site regularly, I do mine each day apart from when I am on holiday of course. I look at some rescue sites and the have info that is almost a year out of date.

When anyone phones me for a cat I always ask if they have internet access and ask that they look at the gallery to see the cats, it is surprising how many cats we home once someone has seen a pic and set their heart on that cat. Just been sent 5 more pics this morning which I will put on as soon as I have been to the Post Office.

Yeah, and volunteers are generally something we dont have enough of!! I agree that the rehoming part of the website is the most important.

I think many of them have a basic website but unless there are volunteers who can update it regularly for them then not much changes I think.

Fortunately for us... I make the time to update as often as I can.. although this tends to be the homing pages and forum rather than our main site... but at the end of the day the priority is getting the cats re-homed.

RR, they just might not be lucky enough to have someone with either a computer, skills or the time - I  had to persuade the woman I foster for to do it, as she was worried we would get the wrong kind of people, so some people might not trust it as a way, but it is more and more common now.

Hi Folks,

I've just registered with this forum.. just came across it the other day.  I'm Secretary of the Cupar Animal Trust Shelter (CATS) based in Fife, Scotland.

Do we have any details on the site the user posted on or contact details?   If she'd called us  you're right... we'd have bitten her hand off!!!   lol   ;D

I have emailed the poster suggesting contacting rescues but no reply. It is a shame that rescues in scotland dont use the internet  as forums like this is another tool they have to use & its amazing how they are missing out on this opportunity.

Such a shame, I have a perfect candidate down here in the South as well.

Michelle, they probably would, but I dont think we have a lot of Scottish rescues on here, and they might not check those kind of sites, I know I dont.
I wish we had people like that in our area too, have 3 over the age of 10 here wanting homes!!

Ad on that other site

We have recently moved to Edinburgh and would like to give an elderly cat some TLC. We live in a flat and do not feel it would suit younger cats. However we could certainly provide a caring and comfortable home for a mature cat. If anybody is having trouble rehoming please contact us.
