I definitely have a soft spot for ginger shade, until Oliver "distracted" me I always fancied having a orange chubby mog like them!! They are both gorgeous, Riley and Ralph, sending both of them my virtual munches

I have a monster boy too - he's nearly 5 though not as young as your furbabe. He weighs 5.7kg and you really know about it after half an hour of him on your knee.

Oliver has one of the most kissable tums ever! Can hardly believe he's still a baby! You sure he's not a Liger in disguise?

our boy has gotten pretty big too, and had a growth spurt around 7 - 9months, but has slowed a lot (though not stopped entirely, even though he's 18 months), and he is a mog.

1st pic is around 5 months (vase about 11 inches tall, 2nd one is about 9 months (fishtank is 1ft tall), last 2 pretty recent (for scale: that's half a 3 seater sofa, and the rug is 3ft wide):

Aaaah, part Ragdoll!! Yes they are going to grow to be whoppers, and from what I understand they are also slow growing breed like Maine Coon and Norwegians, so if Fergie keeps up his pace, he WILL end up a tiger size in 3 years!!

Actually Ollie is a bit bigger than 16 weeks, he is now a bit over 6 months and the last pic below was taken about 3 weeks ago.
He now weighs a bit over 5kg, still eating like a horse!! He just can't get enough and I am not sure if I should make him slow down, as his tummy also keeps growing

... But I love his luscious tummy so much, he is quite active and also developing nice muscles too, and after all he is still a growing boy, so I suppose I can still let him eat as his request?

Em, are Fergie and Polly siblings? It is the same with Ollie, his sister Miu, who lives with my partner's cousin now, is just about half the size of Ollie!! Love that pic of Fergie...

Right well Polly is 3 kg and Fergus is just under 5kg. They're not 7 months until the 25th. This is a recent picture of him ....

Your Oliver is going to grow up to be such a handsome cuddly boy though

My Fergus is getting to be a bit of a monster too. They're 6 months and he's quite big compared to Polly. When they went in to the vets for their op's about 6 weeks ago the vet got him out of the carrier and said "oooh, you're a bit of a bruiser!!" Charmin' I thought! But he did say that they both have the same amount of body fat on them, he's just a bigger cat.

I'm off to weigh them both now, (should be fun

) I'll report back on weights shortly!!

Are you SURE he's the age you were told he was? Have you checked your dates in case he's actually now 9 months old or something?

well he may be distantly related to my normal domestic Sebastian who in his prime had lots muscle, no fat and weighed 9.5 - 10 kgs

Nowadays he looks like he has shrunk slightly

He's been abit tubby , lost excess weight and because he's now just into double numbers his muscle mass isnt nearly anything like it was even 5 years ago so he's probably a very moderate 7.5-8.5 kgs. I should really make attemps to beef him up abit as he's actually looking a little under weight for his size and build.

For one thing I don't think Oliver has any of those slow growing breed in his genes, or so it seems at least, if he does he WILL turn into a kodiak bear in a few years at this pace

Mosi is still growing at nearly 2, but he is a slower developing pedigree breed. I noticed the other day he'd grown a bit (I judge him by Jaffa's size when they're standing side by side).

in very broad guidelines they have normally completed all growing by 1 year old (except for the few slow growing breeds of course) and then after 1 most often they will bulk out and you should see a difference in their muscle mass.

Quite often the growth period is actually completed by around 9 months and some dont seem to noticably grow much bigger after 7 months so it is definately much slower by then.

My codster probably did most of his growth by around 10 ish months but quite a noticable difference in muscle mass between this time and 15 ish months.

I have never met his mum, but I do know his litter sister Miu, who is now with the cousin of my partner Cris. She is about half the size of Oliver!!
He really has an insatiable appetite, like a live hoover, and this was told also by his former meowmy so he has been always like this since he was a wee baby. Although he is an indoor cat I try to exercise him well so he doesn't get obese, and he responds well (some times TOO well, he doesn't want to stop playing and keep insisting!

).
I was a bit concerned because he seemed to be a thin framed cat, not a big boned type. But I can see a some good "manly" muscles are forming around his shoulders, thighs and bum, I take it as a good sign!!

. I thought my Felix was big, he is just over a year old and weighs 6.4 kgs but Oliver sounds like he might be bigger than that.

Don't know - Binky was always small although not the runt of the litter. I am sure they have growth spurts like people do, but don't know if they then stop growing earlier. You'll find out how big he'll get one day!

There's definitely a lot of difference between kittens in how they grow. Some take longer to reach their full size than others, and although to a certain extent it can have to do with proper diet etc, I think part of it is just down to the individual cat. Some are late bloomers, and some are enormous from an early age.

4 kg at 5 months - wow, that's big! Does he have big parents/siblings (if you know)?

Oliver is now 5 and half months old, he weighs 4kg (that was 2 weeks ago and he is growing daily!) and already in a good chunky adult size, I have seen many grown up cats smaller than him.
I have found this conversion, and according to them he is not even 10years old in human age?

Are there kittens who have early growth spurts like some human children do? Is he going to stop growing earlier than average kittens, or is he going to be one of those monster cats?
Of course I don't mind at all how big he grows (as long as he doesn't decide to eat me or something
