I apply the same principle to the cats as I do to the dog. I eat first, but save a treat off the plate for them. They get that treat once I have finished. It stops a lot of mooching and dog dribble, and lets me eat in peace.

Kocka wanted to taste or eat everything I had and somethimess I got no peace till she had hers. When I was feeling mean or hungry, I would eat first and save aher a bit but she would sit by my side and as she saw the food disappearing she would start to panic and try to muscle in

My current lot think I am poisening them if I offer human food although Misa does like some kids of Chicken but not the one I cooked for him two days ago........he had his paws on the top of the working top....hes a big cat.............while it was cooking but once I gave hime some he wouldnt eat it!  Someone ate it later but dont know who  :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

He loved our brussel sprout casserole with bechamele and gorgonzola!!

Not that again!

Binky used to be quite good about not begging from the table as he never got anything that way. Trouble was he could open the fridge and helped himself to anything he fancied...

Don't worry Lucy, Ollie took care of that portion I was going to bring it to you..

Wow, Binky!! Heavens now that's an intelligent kitty you got!! :wow:

    Bob was the biggest scrounger on the planet, so much so he even sat at the table ( on a chair) staring at everyones plate and watch you put your fork from the plate to your mouth

people could not belief him, when you shouted dinner so that everyone would go to the table Bob would run and sit as well, it was hysterical. He ate everything and anything including curry, rice, pasta, cheese the only thing he wasn't keen on was fish

Max is a different kettle of fish altogether he looks at you as if you are trying to poison him when you offer him something from the table  :evillaugh:

I definitely don't think Max would go for sprouts, but then again they're only ever cooked once a year as o/h wants them with Xmas dinner  :evillaugh:

If I'm having salmon (dins tonight, yum!), I have to cut a separate bit and give it to him in one of my chinese dipping bowls, otherwise he will harrass me through my whole meal   I'm having mashed spuds tonight as well, so he'll have to have a bit of that too, crazy animal loves creamy mashed potatoes

Max will even go nuts for cauliflower cheese

OMG, I thought Ollie was the only cabbage eating feline on earth!! :wow:  He loved our brussel sprout casserole with bechamele and gorgonzola!!

Anyhow I try to mix some of the food we are having for dinner for his, (if it is something too spicy I just cook a little of the food separately plain) that seems to calm him down a little.. yes, a little .

Being Vegetarian, Ive never really had a Problem with the (Mooching like Dog syndrome) ;D
But my OH is Not a Vege and I always used to laugh cause the Both of them would harrass
Her until she gave them a bit of chicken or spare rib meat

It's funny cause I would buy them meat treats, Chicken Breast, Prawns, Roast Beef etc.etc
on some occasions, they've even had Steak, Venison, and Duck but they aren't spoiled cause
apart from Chicken, the other treats mentioned were few and far between ;)
But If OH was Eating something nice they'd be round her like " Fly's to S**t "

only thing I can suggest, " if you'd want to do this " is like my OH, set aside a wee bit extra
so's as when the moochin' got really bad i.e. Paws on plate swiping stuff  she would then
give them that, and that would stop the Harassment :wow: for a wee while anyway  ;) :rofl

I had this with Riley too, I go for the Supernanny method  :evillaugh:  Put him down and repeat 'No' over and over again  :tired:  You need to persevere but Leo will get the message in the end.  I always save Riley a bit if he's hanging around so he gets rewarded for being a good boy and not pestering me.  Lucas is of course an angel and has never bothered me when eating  :Luv:

Mosi was the same when I got him but now he doesnt bother (and Jaffa used to be good but now does bother - go figure).  I just had to be very persistent and put him down every time.  For the first few days he would climb up and virtually try to take the food from my mouth.  I had to put my fork down, lift him down and say "NO" again and again.  It would take ages to eat a meal as the second he was put down he was up again.  But he did get the message and after a few days only jumped up now and again.  he doesn't bother at all now.  I do let them lick my plate when I'm finished and put it on the floor, but they never, ever get anything while I'm eating.

Perseve with him is all you can do to be honest.  Max has still not got the idea that no means no with me, he'll sit very close to me and try to hook the odd morsal off my plate with his paw ...... but if my o/h is around, he's good as gold and sits on the back of the sofa until his 'saved' bit is put on the plate for him.

He sees me as a soft touch, I giggle when he's naughty, so he knows he can get away with it

Ok, nightly we try & eat our dinner in peace ! I lay his out to deter him from our food !

He is like a kitten possessed ! He will pounce on the tray.. try & sneakily 'paw' the food from your plate & will not take no for an answer ! he will just continue to keep trying ! I just keep getting up & taking him to his bowel of food but he runs right back again ! It was embaressing on Fri night when I had my frineds over for dinner .. I pre warned them but he is so sneaky & quick !!!

What can I do to stop him ? He has recently had wormer from the vets so its not that & he loves his own food - just wants ours all the time !!!

 :Luv: :evillaugh:
