Sorry to be pedantic, but cream is cream and is the dilute of red. Champagne is the term the Americans use to describe C.ho.colate Burmese.
The term grey is the correct term to describe the coloration of the standard domestic tabby cat, where the tabby hairs are ticked with black, tan and grey. It is a term solely used for cats with the dominant agouti (tabby) gene who do NOT display any dilute coloration - i.e. your basic tabby cat.
The colour blue is the dilute of the black and applies to both solid and tabby. Unlike the grey colouration of your basic tabby cat, the blue is purely a result of a reduction in black pigmentation in the hairs. Any cat, whether solid or tabby who demonstrates this reduction of pigmentation in its coat i.e. dilution is correctly known as a blue.
