in my rush to leave the other day I forgot to secure my makeup bag. Came home to the entire contents at the front door (at the bottom of the stairs) which is Smidgens new favourite place for leaving his toys when he is done with them ... Sigh

Mosi has developed an obsession with my tub of powder foundation.  It has a brush attached to the top (then a lid over that) and the other day I washed the brush but had to screw it back on to the tub before it dried as the lid wouldn't fit without it.  I left the lid off as the brush was drying and next thing I knew there was Mosi carrying the whole thing by the brush and making for the bed  :-: Ever since then he's been obsessed with it, even when it has the lid on.  I have to put it in a drawer because even if I think it's hidden on the shelf in the bathroom he always finds it.  When I was fishing it out from under the bed yesterday I also found a bag of coriander seeds under there - another of his latest crazes

He's making up for lost time and being very naughty.  He's become obsessed with my make up and toiletries and keeps running off with things from the bathroom  >:(

Yes it's out!  Sorry my fault for 2 threads.  When the other thread went from Mosi limping for unknown reason to how to get the litter out, I thought I would get more responses on here.

The litter was on the outside but hard to tell if any was inside the cut as I couldnt see much of the cut - it was covered with the hardened litter.  And the little monkey wasn't too keen on keeping still so that I could get a proper look.  But I think it's all gone now and the cut doesn't look bad so I think it will heal up just fine.  It's certainly not causing him any problems.  He's been very naughty tonight and keeps pinching my make up from the bathroom and taking it under the bed  8)  Ta for all the tips.

He's been dunked in water and that seems to have loosened it.  Lets just hope the cut closes over before he gets any more in there,

Hmmmm, depending on how tolerant Mosi is,

He doesn't really do still!

I'll try some oil and see if that will shift it.  I can see I'm going to have oily paw prints all over the place tonight!

I have no experience of clumping litter but if it is activated by water, oil or grease (butter or something) should help you remove it?

Hmmmm, depending on how tolerant Mosi is, I would try a syringe with luke warm salty water, and gently
flush dirt out with that (dont think Kittys have nerves in their paw pads ??) and maybe try to encourage
litter out with a cotton bud or similar ??
you may need 2 ppl to do this ;)

P.S. a syringe WITHOUT a Needle ;)

I think anything wet will help the stuff to stick even more.  I would try with a soft dry brush.  Then after removing it you could apply some oil to soothe it, that's what I would do...

Olive oil? Just thinking that's oily so might help it slide off without hurting him but equally won't do him any harm.

Thats what I thought before I saw your reply Lottie  ;D

Im imagining it the same as when you get grit stuck in your palm (falling over as a child ouch)...the nurse would fold a paper towel over and use the corner to push the grit out......maybe after softening it with warm boiled water  ;)

(you should know....remember the splinter  :evillaugh:)

How to get clumping cat litter off a paw?
« Reply #1 on: October 04, 2007, 11:15:16 AM »
Thought I'd ask this on general since Mosi's limping thread has evolved over in behaviour, and there are usually more peeps looking on here.

Mosi has a small cut on his paw pad and there seems to be clumping litter stuck in it.  It's not a lot but I don't want the cut to heal over with litter trapped underneath.  What is the best thing for removing it?  I've tried water but as it's clumping litter that's not really working.  Washing up liquid?  Any suggestions?
