My vet nurse didn't recommend the injection, as it only sterilises, not kills, so you might still need to use both!!
Please spay your cat

I find the no-nonsense approach is always the best (well not quite so bad as the alternatives)
DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

Change of tactic this month  :sneaky:  Grabbed Riley first while he was on the work surface, wedged him under my arm like an accordian and did it in 2 seconds flat.  Took about 1 minute to catch Lukey, put him on the worksurface then did exactly the same to him, job done in less than 2 minutes for both of them  :)

Thanks MM, the Frontline is more of a preventative measure and if they did get fleas I don't want them to get bitten so will probably stick to Frontline.  The weren't scratchy or bitey (never have been  :)) it's just they were such a butter to catch  >:(

Program is a flea contraceptive so stops them from hatching, not biting so not so good for if your cat has a flea allergy. I think  :-:

You can get it in a oral liquid if you dont want to go to the vets each time

Hiya,

It maybe not the case, with Alfie this was the first time that I used Frontline as he had previously been treated by the cat charity that I adopted him from so don't know much about the history but it happened straight after I'd treated him and didn't happen when they treated him with the other stuff, I wish that I could remember what it was called. Something had obviously irritated him at the spot where I applied the Frontline that lead to the clumps of hair and bloody mark which, like you, I thought looked like a burn.

Good luck

Regards

Leigh that's very interesting that you mention the spot on burning him as I just said last night that I thought them mark on Dino looked like a burn. Its about the size of a 2p coin. He roams about outside all day so no way of knowing what he is getting up to. Will keep an eye to make sure gets no worse. I have only ever used frontline and get on very well with it and he has not been done recently enough to have caused this. Mystery!

Hi fourfurballs,

Alfie had that when I treated him with Spot On, I took him to the vet and he said that it had burnt him as he is a white cat or was alergic to it and gave him something else, can't remember what it was called and that was fine. Alfie had a bald patch, some largeish clumps of hair on the rug with some blood on them, easy to spot on a white cat. As none of mine go out and rarely scratch I don't use flea stuff now. I had a small flea problem with me bringing them back home after feeding my mum's cat daily for 9 months last year when she was in hospital originally and thoroughly sprayed the place a couple of times and that did the trick since when, fingers crossed, we've been flea-free.

Cheers

Leigh

as we all know cats are just way to clever for us humble humans!

Dino came home on Tuesday with a little bald batch around that spot where you put the frontline and its not like a scratch or anything but flat and red as if the fur had just been ripped out. Anyway I am spraying it with hibitaine to keep it clean and as soon as he says the spray bottle he is off like a rocket!

You'd think we were trying to torture them, not just empty a tiny bit of stuff on their necks  :evillaugh:

Max got his own back on me though, claws in my kneesies last night when he almost slid off my work trousers during our 'back from work' cuddle sesh

I did Max's flea stuff yesterday, tried sneaking up on him when he was munching which usually works, but even though I popped it open upstairs, he must have smelled at at 50 paces, so spent 10 minutes charging round the house to get him to stay still for 2 secs

I dont use Stronghold regularily only if I think there is aproblem, usually ear related. I have heard about the injection but thought it was in relation to a problem someone had but just cant remember.

have you tried a search on Purrs for Flea injection?

Those  boys are just too gorgeous for words  ;D

helen - you are such a lier, we all know these two little sweet darlings never cause any of the troubles you describe. ha!!!

btw, was wondering how lu-lu is doing with eating after getting spooked?  he is soooooo gorgeous.  as is his brother  :Luv:

well done for "winning" the battle  :)

Am not! It was verging on comedy, me chasing Riley round the living room - he would flop down a few feet in front of me and as I got into position with my towel and pippette he legged it again

Thanks for asking about LuLu  :)  He was still a bit nervy for a few days after but MUCH improved which I think is down to the Feliway.  He will eat in the original spot now, he's still a tiny bit nervous but if he gets spooked it only takes him a few seconds to forget about it and go back to his tea whereas before he would run off and refuse to go back.

What a kerfuffle!

Have just spent the last 40 mins doing some serious cardio exercise...  not as part of my new healthy regime but in an attempt to 'frontline' the boys!  I do it once a month and have never had any real problems apart from not being very good at applying it to the skin.  I decided to do Riley first as he is much more malleable than Lukey.  When wedging him between my knees didn't work (he either wriggled out backwards or bolted forwards) I tried to wrap him up in a towel so that he was wedged between my knees and couldn't bolt forwards due to being wrapped up... or so I thought  >:( After chasing him round for what seemed like hours I finally got him wrapped up and wedged, but everytime I managed to find a suitable parting in his fur he wriggled out of my grip.  He was squealing pitifully as though I was attacking him.  Finally got him, had to be really rough but needs must  :innocent:

Next for Lu Lu aka Mr Suspicious  :shify:  took a few minutes to convince him to have his treats as he had seen Riley being pinned down and 'tortured' so when he ventured forwards to eat his milky flake ums I leapt on him  :evillaugh:  Poor boy was actually quite good and froze to the spot, I was so surprised I ended up squirting the pipette all over his fur and didn't get very much at all on the skin  :innocent:

Anyone use the flea injection?  Can't remember what it's called but think I'm going to be asking the vet about it before next month comes around all too quickly  :shy:

Butter wouldn't melt?
