I am going to see a veterinary at the ecole veterinaire de Maison Alfort. It is supposed to be the best cardiologist in France.

Bonjour lili, j'habite également en France, dans la région de Langudoc, près de Pezenas. Je suis Englsih ainsi mon français est pauvre. J'espère que vous pouvez obtenir le bon traitement pour votre beau chat. Mon chat est mort en avril, il a eu le cancer. Il s'est mort très soudainement et maintenant je souhaite que j'aie recherché plus de traitement de spécialiste qui j'ai obtenu de notre vétérinaire local.
Il a pu avoir vécu peu un plus long et je voudrais penser que nous lui avons donné le meilleur traitement que nous pourrions trouver. Où en france habitez-vous ? Nous sommes quelques heures parties de Toulouse où il y a une école vetinary ainsi à l'avenir, j'irons là pour n'importe quoi sérieux. Bonne chance .

Salut Melisa et bon courage avec Assya. Je ne parle pas couramment francais (ca se voir!) mais je sais (j'etais en France avec mon chat quand il s'est fait opere en 05) que c'est dur quand les petits aux 4 pattes sont malades et vous avez du mal a vous explimer chez le veto.
Il y a un tres bon cardiologue a l'ouest de Londres (hertfordshire) a Davies, Dr Paul Wootton si tu voudrais un 2me avis pour la petite ou tu ne veux pas voyager avec elle.

Assya didn't show any signs of her disease until 2 weeks ago. She started to breath with difficulty when she was purring.
But when she is not purring, she seems fine.
I try to keep her calm as well but she is still a kitten as she is only 9 months old so she enjoys to play and run with my other cat Sultan...

I am full of hope about Assya. We are trying everything we can to give her a chance to live as long as possible.

My Vet would not give me a timescale for George.  He said it is a very rare condition and he could say six months and George could last six years.

The one thing we keep an eye on is his blood pressure.  The cardiologist told us that he could need to have blood "removed" if his blood pressure gets too high (I think he said his red blood cell count would be high and he would make a very good cat blood donor!!)

George does not really show any signs of his condition, apart from if he gets too excited he does pant and wheeze a bit.  We try to keep him as calm as possible and just enjoy all the time we have with him.  I know he will not last forever but he is now two years old so he has surpassed our initial expectations.

Will post the details of the other website I found when I get home.  It is quite sad as the writer lost her cat to the condition but it does have some very useful information on it.  It is an american site.

It is nice to have someone else to share experience with of this condition.  If I can be of any help to you Lili, please let me know and let me know how you get on with the Cardiologist.

Lovely names for beautiful cats 

Your english is purrrrrrfect and I know that there is at least one fluent french speaker on Purrs, called Team Svartalfheims, Lottie is her name and she recently brought her little NFC Miss Boopy over from France.

Its wonderful to have members from abroad cos it helps us to know what happens in terms of care in other places.

Loads of luck with beautiful Assya and it sounds like you are geytting as much help for her as you can

My veterinary told me that Assya would probably die before 3 years old.
It does exist surgery for human on this kind of pathology but not for cats

She is absolutely stunning and I am so sorry that she has this.

My cat Assya, is 9 months, she already had an echogaphy and a doppler but my veterinary said that he couldn't do anything for her. So i get an appointment with a cardilogist in Paris on the 30th of october to see what we can do.
She is under treatment aswell, she is on diuretic for 20 days ( she has a Lungwort oedeme) and Fortekor 2.5.

Dear Lili

Welcome to Purrs.  I have a cat that also has this condition.  Apparently, it is very rare.  My cat was diagnosed two years ago when he was eight weeks old.  He went to a Cardiologist following my Vet picking up that he had a bad heart murmur.  At the moment he is on 1/4 of 75mg Aspirin every third day and Beta Blockers 0.10ml per day.

Has your cat been seen by a Cardiologist and do you have any copies of the results etc.
