Kitty still hasnt done any cothing,

A big thanks too all of you who gave me some advice bcoz if not i would have taken her to the vets by now and it would of cost a fortune!

Ill have to get one and give it a go coz to see if fhe has fleas is a nightmare it takes 2 of us and will still get scratched to pieces

Kitty mommy, my lot hate katalax but love sherleys or defurem. They are also cheaper

If she doesn't like the comb it might be an idea to start with a grooming mitt ..... this will get her used to be groomed. It's a good idea to try to get her used to grooming as it's the best way to make sure she hasn't pick up and "friends" (fleas

)

when i got the tube of hairball paste out today she loves it that much

Still no coughing so think it really has done the trick

i try and brush her but she hates i get bitten and clawed lol then she nicks the comb out of my hand and runs off

Definitely sounds like a hairball (furball) to me. My three cats have all experienced the same thing. One thing that I do is rub their throats when they start coughing. I also encourage them to get a drink of water and that seems to help them. We did talk to our vet about our hairball concern with our long-haired calico and they recommended Katlax. We have had great luck with her, so we've started using it on the other two as well. None of them like the taste of it, so I envy all of you whose cats will lick it out of the tube! It's a two-person job to get the Katlax down our cats. My husband holds them and pries their jaws open. I rub it on the roof of their mouth and then they run and hide. I'm sure your kitty will be just fine, though! Another recommendation is frequent brushing, especially if your kitty is long-haired. We have to brush our calico at least once a week to keep her hairballs under control. Our other 2 don't have to be brushed as frequently. Best of luck with your furry kid's recovery!

Wormers dont stay in the body so yes after 2 months its fine. Kittens get done every 2 weeks!

I would also worm her too as they can cause coughing

Make sure its from the vets or buy some drontal online at vetuk (min order of £9). If you visit through a rescue link they earn commission

hopefully she actually licks it off knowing my luck she will just leave herself covered in it lol,

what makes me think it is just a furball is she has no other symptoms and is still her happyself also has she has long ish fur

It says on the tube to do it for 3 days on the trot then once a week to stop it happening again. I have to admit I'm not so good on the maintenance side

Obviously they want you to use it all the time anyway. Apparently, its just codliver oil & malt so shouldn't be £5 for a little tube

im going to get some furball paste in a bit and hopefullt it works she hasnt had any coughing fits today but had one last night only lasted for about 30 seconds then she was fine again

If she is still coughing despite furball paste then take her to the vets as coughing can be a sign of other conditions.

One word of caution when applying furball paste.

Make sure it is rubbed in well (rub in in the direction the fur grows only ie forward strokes on the front leg

)

I am quite good at that now but previously, Willow would flick it off and I found blobs of it on sofas, up walls, on me etc

I usually get Katalax or Defurrum but this time I got Sherleys - it is furball paste and prebiotic in one - it looks like SR toothpate except brown & beige stripes

I use one called Katalax which the babes go crazy for - they eat it straight from the tube if I am not careful and I have to hide the tube or it would be in pieces on the floor - I suspect it is the malt flavouring ..

£48 sounds very expensive just for the consultation fee!

I found the name of that grass - Cocksfoot - it is recommended by Cats Protection and apparently they sell the seeds for it.

she just wont bring it up she has these coughing fits once maybe twice a day, Dont really want to take her to the vets as its so expensive and obviously if its just a fur ball my vet will still charge £48 just for seeing heer but if she doesnt get better with in a few days i will

mine do the grass thing as well. I read of one somewhere recently that is great for getting furballs up - may have been in the leaflets I got from Cats Protection when I got Heidi and Huxley. Will see if I can find it....

Mine don't like the treats. At least with the paste, if they don't like it, you can rub it into their fur (I usually rub it into the front leg)
so they have to lick it off like it or not

Clapton happily eats it straight from the tube

No mine wont either lol but the paste is very sticky and you can put it on their foot and then they will have to clean it off.

MIne eat grass and grass and more grass and that makes them sick and up comes fur ball

Its more than likely a furball.

Does she have access to grass? - Otherwise you can get some furball paste from the petshop - there are a few different brands. If she had gone off her food I would suggest a vet trip but the furball seems more likely.

I have a 1 year old female cat,
Just resently i have noticed that she has little coughing fits she sits there stretches her neck out coughes for no longer than 30 seconds then stops and is her normall self again, She is still eating, drinking, playing etc like she normally does.
Does anyone have ne ideas what may be wrong with her?
