Can I suggest dropping in/posting them some info about how to make a mesh frame for a window (with or without 'cat balcony') as an alternative?

I can't see how they can be doing poor puss a favour by putting him outside in his carrier  :mad2:  He could get completely spooked by something but not be able to run away to safety ........ I think that's very cruel  :(

I asked her how long she leaves little boy out for but she didn't answer me. I asked if it was 1/2 hour or so and she nodded. I hope she does it supervised as it is a shared yard and the cat is very vulnerable in a carrier outside  >:(

What nutters!  :evillaugh:

Do they imagine they're doing their cat a favour by sticking him in a basket to watch birds he has no hope of catching..?  :-: It would be the same thing as sticking me in a milk dolly in the middle of Thornton's assembly room.  Still, I expect it's routine for puss now 'cos we wouldn't go in the basket if it weren't enjoyable for him - some people do get their jolles from window shopping, I suppose.  :shify:

But... what nutters to think of it in the first place!

If he is an indoor cat only then that where he should watch birdies from, not shut in a basket outside  :(

Very oddd, my cats would go bananas and to be honest I think that is cruel >:(

I questioned her on it and she said he is 8 and they have always done it and he is an indoor only cat. The road at the front is one of the busiest narrow roads I have seen and cars bomb along. Its so dangerous they have railings and a concrete thing all the way down the road. Its a very old narrow road but the main road through the centre of Canterbury.

Must admit at having a little snigger at them petting him out to "watch the birds" how frustrating for him! I could imagine how well that would go down with my three

Well I went to pick up the cat in Canterbury. The man said they had been feeding it for a couple of weeks but it looked ill so we arranged to get it. Sally asked if they had a basket today so they could hold him til I got there. He said they use it every day so not possible. We thought it really odd but he told me tonight that they put their indoor cat outside in his basket during the day to watch the birds  :evillaugh: - probably just as well as there is a really busy road at the front. Anyway, The cat was in his shed but he said there wasn't room for 2 people (there was) so insisted on tring to get the cat  in the basket by putting his hands through the gap - It was a nightmare as he was forcing poor kitty into the carrier and he scratched my arm - he's a lovely friendly boy - a bit scabby and something wrong with his tail but generally looks quite healthy - at theother end, he was a little angel - purring his head off and rubbing up against Gillian & me. I got a couple of pics but not too great. The black cat is their own cat they insisted on showing me, called "Little boy"  ;D - He was lovely too  :Luv:
