Its just the wailing that starts as soon as the door is closed and me and Sam are "closing in" so to speak. Its a horrible noise.

BTW they are both girlies  :P

Definately do the difficult one first and if you can pick him up then just push him in quick. and slam the door.

I have a bad problem with Sasa cos cant touch her and the annual vet trip about 3 weeks ago is stressful for all. I had to shut all doors except the study where she was kipping on sofa and because she will run away from me if I get too close, walk up to her. She then rushed of sofa into the hall and I shut study door behind her.

Next stage was getting her to one end of hall and trapped with only place to rush into being the big wire cage, which was covered at one end with a towel.

She wouldnt go in and because the cage is big and I have no balance, it was hard to reach her cos she had glued herself to the door at the end. She is very heavy and if I try to lean over I fall, so was trying to use something to poke her out with to make her move into the cage. One never has all the things that are needed at a time like this cos cats are so sneakie!

It took about 30 mins of talking pushing and yes stroking cos she was trapped, before she rushed into the cage. It was so pityful cos she was squeaking and crying cos she was so scared and cryed all the way to the vets but was quiet all the way back (50 mile round trip) .  As I pulled up outside the house she started banging against the door of the cage cos she knew she was home!

Cos she is so heavy it was hard to carry the cage to the door with her jumping around but once inside and cage open she was gone, outside, and I thought that would be the last I saw of her for 24 hrs at least but noooooooo  ;D she was back in the kitchen under the table in the evening. Took her a week or so before she would use her sofa again though!

I know this sounds like a comedy but its so hard and hope that you are able to get to the vets less stressed than me  ;D

http://www.metalcote.co.uk/products.html

Wire baskets are the best, they last years - mine is over 20yrs old - and are secure if they get upset when travelling and try to bust out. Theres no plastic clips to fail either.

Great for an awkward cat as one catches and puts in and the other is lid shutter.

Thats how we do it, but she always manages to claw Sam's (OH) t shirt on the way down
When he lowers her in have her facing away from him so theres nothing to hang on to.
:luck:

I put the box upright with the door open and put them in bum first if that makes sense and then close the door quickly.

I know I'm am evil meowmy but its the best way I have found :)

Get a new box that opens at the top rather than a little door?

Menue has got a little chunky and the door on the box I have just looks so small! I did buy a cheapo cat box from argos though, I need to get a decent one!
For a man to truly understand rejection, he must first be ignored by a cat.

Dogs believe they are human. Cats believe they are God.

No amount of time can erase the memory of a good cat, and no amount of masking tape can ever totally remove his fur from your couch.

You need to start shutting the door when you go in the room at times when you dont need to get the cats in the basket then they wont get that first inkling.Take difficult cat first and give him some cuddles then back him into the basket.

I know a few people who put them on end and lower the cats in if that makes sense, fortunately I'm quite lucky with my lot

Hi there,

taking Mango and Chutney to the vets on saturday morn for their boosters.

Normally, Mango is great at getting into her box-I just have to put it on the floor and open the door, and she walks in, sits down and has an expression on her face as if to say "right, where are we off to then?"

And then there is Chutney. Chutney knows when something is going on. I have to close the living room door (There are no closed doors in my house) so this is her first inkling. She will then stand by the living room door and wail as if to say "whats going on? I dont like it!" and if I approach her, she will hide behind the sofa.

She has never liked being picked up anyway, but its usually OH that bundles her into the box bum first. She will then proceed to wailing the entire time.

I always get the boxes into the living room a few days before we go, so they get used to the sight of them. I have tried putting food and toys in the box, but she still will not go near it.

Does anybody have any tips for me? I want to get Chutney to the vets with as little stress as possible.  :'(
