with boys doesn't it depend if everything has dropped or not? Tilly had stiches but no collar and she left them alone

If it were me i'd ring on friday and say they are 6 months old

are they being chipped aswell? Often its cheaper if done at the same time as neutering.
For Daisy you could ask them if they will glue her, then you dont need to worry about her pulling stitches.

Rang the vets but they said to ring back in a fortnight cos they're only 5 and a half months old. I've read so many times it's 5 months and told her that, but she insisted on the 6 months. They should be fine til then anyway though, shouldn't they? I can't really go to any other vets cos it's too far away, this one's just across the road.

Blimey - look how grown up they are now!

I'm sure they'll be fine but it's natural to worry.

When Mosi had an op recently he didn't bother with his stitches at all so fingers crossed your girls will be good and not need one.

I think she sounds wonderful

Some of us are slow cos we cant help it but dont hold slow against peeps. although I know it can be frustrating. Its frustating for me too but I cant do things fast anymore

She's a darling and I wouldn't say a word against her - neither will the vet.

She's been known to 'lose' the odd pipette of Frontline and the odd Drontal and once completely lost the final bill of this old dear's beloved cat when he was PTS.

And she did Voodoo on my two feral babes when they were first caught, and treated them for worms single handed after they'd taken chunks out of the vet.

But she is slow, bless her...

Well, my vet has this rather mature but lovely sweet nurse. The vet keeps saying he's gonna get her some roller skates as she's not as quick as she used to be.

I was talking to him about the idea of a Snip-o-thon, but he said it'd probably be too much for the nurse...

Piccies of your furbabes are beautiful

My girls have always worn the collars after spaying.....apart from not being able to get at the stitches i think it also keep's them calmer and less likely to feel confident enough to jump around also

After a female is prep for spaying the actual op when routine (so most of em) takes about 15-20 mins tops from incision to last suture, Many will do it in half that time. A castrate takes 2 mins to prep and about 5 mins to castrate

Thanks, Sam. I'm definitely gonna ask them about that stuff. But I think I'd still be wary of not getting a collar. I know it's a pain for them, but with Jasmine not having one it meant her going under anaesthetic twice in the one week, and an extra bill for £50 odd.

Tigger is very patient on the whole, but sometimes you do see him getting annoyed by them. He usually takes himself up and sits on top of the fridge, as if to say "

you can't get up here" lol

Hi Karen,

Rossi and Foxy were both in and out in a day and neither of them had collars ... they were both very good and left their stitches well alone (my vet paints on some stuff that makes the stitches taste nasty ... like the stuff you use to stop biting your nails I think).

Your furries all look gorgoeus and happy and Tigger doesn't exactly look too worried by all the attention.

I've never known a female spay to require an overnight stay. But they do like the girls to get in early in the morning because they do them first and they have longer to recover. Our vet says it only takes about 20 mins to do a male and they'll take them anytime up to 11am. The girls have to be in by 10am, or come back the next day, as they take longer.

Some girls have collars. Some don't. But if you feel safer I'm sure they'll give you one..

I have more girls than boys and none of them have stayed in over night.
I know you will worry while they are being done but its a quick Op and they will all be just fine.

Cant believe how big they have got - thats what happens when you feed them

I hope they do give Daisy a collar, cos I could do without her having to go back in under anaesthetic to be re-stitched, like Jasmine did. The vets must think I'm responsible when they let me bring Jasmine home with her spinal damage.
Ellie, I'm a nervous wreck too. And hate the thought of not feeding them, but it's for the best I know.

They are so big! My friend was just saying today Meeko's as big as Jasmine was when she had him. Daisy's very small like she was, and Belle's just in the middle.

Rascal came home the same day and she didn't need a collar but I know most do.

I was a nervous wreck when the boys got the snip-n-chip but everyone on here was so supportive and helped me through

I think it depends on when the op is done. They need a deeper anaesthetic so if done later in the day, then overnight may be necessary. But if you impress as a responsible owner, they vet may release them even if they are a bit unsteady on their feet still...

Hi Milly's Mum. I'm good thanks for asking, and the mob are brilliant. I got the neutering vouchers through today so I need to book them in tomorrow. I'm so dreading it, but the woman from the animal sanctuary that gave me the vouchers thinks the vets will take all 3 in one day. I hope so. Meant to come here and ask, will Daisy have to stay in overnight? I've heard a few people say that girls do.

They still never give Tigger peace

And with Da Bird. They love it! Daisy cracks me up with it, as soon as she gets it she wraps her teeth round it and tries to run away, stop the boys getting it. Tigger's so lazy with it, he wont get up and chase it, just waits for it to come past and tries to grab it
