This is a pretty comprehensive site - produced by Drontal....  http://www.stopwormsdead.co.uk/template.php

Cats can get worms from fleas, don't know how fast the life cycle is but he might have picked up the odd flea at the cattery?  Not sure if there would be enough time for the 'worm' your OH saw to develop though.

My cat went into a cattery for a week whilst we were away, we picked him up Thursday night and on Friday night he started to have quite bad Diaorrhea... we put him on a rice diet for 2 days as a freind suggested that would settle his stomach, it seemed to have cleared up the issue but late last night my OH said he'd had another accident out of his tray and he said in it looked like a worm?!

Now he had his worming tablet on 9/8, he's not an outside cat so we have never had any problems like this before, I was wondering if there is any information on worms somewhere that we could read up about it...

do you think he could have caught something for the cattery?!

I wonder if the cattery fed him something different to what he usually eats, and its just the change in diet thats upset his tummy? I'd give him something like plain cooked chicken (just baked in the oven) rather than rice and perhaps give him a probiotic like Lacto B to help the gut, then gradually re-introduce his normal diet. FAB have an info leaflet on worms here http://fabcats.org/owners/worming/info.html

I expect he went away from his tray, just because he's had diarrhea and he's kind of associating the tray with the diarrhea. Good idea to get him checked over just in case though.

Hi,

My cat went into a cattery for a week whilst we were away, we picked him up Thursday night and on Friday night he started to have quite bad Diaorrhea... we put him on a rice diet for 2 days as a freind suggested that would settle his stomach, it seemed to have cleared up the issue but late last night my OH said he'd had another accident out of his tray and he said in it looked like a worm?!

Now he had his worming tablet on 9/8, he's not an outside cat so we have never had any problems like this before, I was wondering if there is any information on worms somewhere that we could read up about it...

I couldn't get him to our vets today but have an appointment tomorrow evening but I was just wondering what any of you think or your advise.

He seems to be his normal self greeting you, purring, playing, hungry, drinking, although the going for a number 2 outside his litter tray is very odd... but I'm just a worried mum.. do you think he could have caught something for the cattery?!

Any help or suggestions I'd be very grateful

Thnaks!
