When do fleas die??

That's good stuff - it's so important to break the life cycle in the house as well as killing the fleas on the cat itself.  Last time we had fleas, it took about 48 hours before I stopped seeing live ones so you might find a few more dead 'uns yet!  Good luck ...

I have one cat, Milly.

Hoovered first and windows doors all kept shut for more than 30 mins after spraying. I sprayed everything you can possibly imagine. All rooms regardless of the flooring etc.

Just brushed Milly through there and there were a few - not loads -  but definately a few live ones on her.

I remember when I had a Flea infestation (little F*@ers) did my head in trying to get rid of them, sorry it was such along
time ago that this happened that I forget the name of the stuff I used. all I remember is that for £60 I got two big
aerosole cans of stuff which had to be sprayed throughout the house, and I opted for a spray for the cats ( which they
absolutely detested ) because they didn't like the noise of the spray " sprayed directly onto my hands an rubbed
it into thier coats.. I remember seeing in the news that year, about a lady who had given her two cats the flea
treatment that comes in pippets and you put behind thier neck.. the stuff was out of date and the poor cats died
the spray was mainly directed to dark areas i.e. under furnature/ skirting boards etc.You Should hoover again, this
will ensure you have more chance of getting rid of all the eggs and larve..

I only ever had one Flea infestation, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy !!!

Definitely worth seeking advice on the best household flea spray to use - most of the stuff you can get easily in pet shops just doesn't work and you'll be infested time and time again - it's worth spending a bit more on the spray and stamping the problem out properly.

Advocate is just as good as the other veterinary grade products so dont worry about that. Which house spray did you use? And did you spray rooms with hard floors eg bathroom and kitchen? As eggs can get in any tiny crevice.
Its a good idea to also spray mattresses/duvets/cushions/sofas and rugs too.

If your cats are riddled with dead fleas then a comb out would be nice. I think i would comb anyway just to see the dead bodies hit the floor

I use Advocate on my dogs as this is the one the vet recommends especially for Kara with her skin problems. 

Stops fleas from feeding within 3-5 minutes.
Kills 98-100% of the fleas within 12 hours of first application.
Kills both adult and larval fleas within 20 minutes of contact.
Kills fleas that jump onto the pet later, within one hour.
Reduces the incidence of Flea Allergy Dermatitis.
Remains reflexive after swimming, bathing or exposure to rain.
Breaks the flea life cycle by killing flea larvae as well as adult fleas.

If you have a serious flea infestation in the house, the spray from the vets should clear it but I guess there maybe a a few straglers.

I think I used to use advocate at one time but  use stronghold now and think that frontline and stronghold are better, just my opinion.

I would give at least 48 hrs for the spray to work before hoovering and if there are any signs of fleas in house respray checking on label that its OK first. I seem to recall that all doors and windows need ed to be kept shut for a time after spraying, then one needed to open them to get rid of the smell LOL.

Do not reapply advocate to the cat though cos it should be effective for 4 weeks..............I think it works only when the flea bites but the leaflet should tell you and if so thats why stronghold and frontline are better cos they work when the flea contacts the cat.

I use Stronghold on my lads and the fleas die pretty quickly def by the next day. Not sure about Avocate as i have not heard about that one but i am sure others will have and can advise ya.

How many cats to ya have? Sometimes it depends how bad the flea infetaion is in ya house and sometimes best to have a "flea man" come in and spray the whole house.

I have treated my cat with Advocate and and house spray (both from Vet), this was over 24 hours ago and i have found some living fleas. How soon after treatment should they die?

Also, we hoovered etc before spraying the house. Should we hoover again now or would we just hoover up all th spray we put down?

When the fleas do die, do i need to brush them out cats body?
