having just moved in, and having a pile of some 26 cartons of books awaiting the construction of shelving, I have no need for such artificial devices. Esther simply took herself into the pile and found a space where she sat when she wanted solitude. She is presently sprawled across the dog's bed while the dog is curled up in a tight corner looking disgruntled. The on-going battle for supremacy is presently Dog, bottom of the pile (quel surprise), Esther next up the line and Smidgen firmly in the lead which is not bad going since he is the youngest by a country mile. But he is a boy and an aby cross so I guess that explains it.
