Thanks all for your kinf=d words and I keep hoping that one day we will get in touching distance  ;D

However tonight she has vanished and its raining, I am sure Misa knows where she is cos he has just come for some treats. I am sure she will come in but yes she is making her point!

No Helen have not heard of that and may try it , although I suspect what my hands smell of woint matter much, I am a human and thats enough for her to be scared.

Today I saw her wandering down next doors garden and was hoping to watch where she went, and she knew I was watching, and everything was fine till she saw my neighbour move in the house and Sasa rushed back into her own garden. My so called cat loving neighbour was coming to scare her away of course grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

No wonder Sasa hates people.

Gill sounds like the visits we have with some of ours, we end up cornering them to get them in to the vet - we usually start moving them around to get the right ones to where we want them and in that process we freak some of the others who can't go to their normal safe place

I'm sure like some of ours time and love is all we can give them apart from the best of food and pander to their every whim but sometimes the trauma in their past will only let them come as far as they have and all we can do is love from a distance - we have 6 like this and can only get near them when we have to get them in to crushers for the that dreaded vets visit!

Take heart she loves you in her own way but she has had loneliness and trauma for longer than you have had her so give it a few more years thats what I say to people who often wonder why we have cats who aren't cuddly unless wearing a full suit of armour!!!!

So from my untouchable crew to Sasa keep worrying your mother whilst enjoying all other things she gives you!!!!

Do hope this dear puss will come to trust people but it is distressing when this happens. Can't help feeling that all cats want affection and, at some point, perhaps quite suddenly, she will change. Here's hoping.

Aww, I do hope you finally have that breakthrough at some point with her Gill - she is very lucky though, she might still be in that pen otherwise.

Oh Gill, I hadn't realised.  I know you've had difficult moments with her, but not that she'd run off (not far though mind  :evillaugh: clever girl - just far enough to make her point and see her Misa)

Some cats are never cuddly or trusting.  As Ruth said though, she's kind enough to give you the run of your house, bless her, and she must trust you to what, for her, is an astonishing amount to continue to live with you.  Cats won't stay where they don't want to if they get the chance to be off.

Not surprised the CP lady was glad you came along.   ;)

Oh I didnt realize that Ruth.......I have tried lying down but that scared her

She is under the kitchen table at the moment, which I know is a protest but she now likes her creature comforts and defo isnt gonne be outside in the wind and the rain  :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

She often goes under there on the cushion, so its not that unusual but was hoping she would come back to her sofa tonight.

At least this time I trapped her in the hall and not in one of her fav places, she loves the tent but I didnt want to catch her there cos she would never have gone back in it.

Probably tomorrow we will be back to normal, her being frosty and me keeping out of her way as normal  ;D

However if she does come back on the sofa tonight  I will see if she will have some 'sweetys' out of my hand  ;D

Bless her  :Luv:

I think if I had to be locked up in a pen for a year I too would be unsociable. You couldn't help having to come back to London, so it just one of those things.

Sasa will get there.

To be honest Gill, as much as Lexy's little successes each day amaze me,  she still won't come near my legs or rub up against me. I have to be lying flat on my back, and only then will she do what she does now.

I guess I seem unthreatening to her if I am lying down.

Patience...

Smart girl though.. knows that Misa will keep her company. She's not alone hun.

If Sasa really feared you she would avoid you and she doesn't. She lets you live in her house, pander to her ever whim...that's a small sign of trust.

Thanks Ruth......and yes you are right she lets me live in her house and pander to her

I hope that one day she will come to me and rub round my legs or something.

Sasa came from CP along with Misa. They had never met before and I was lucky cos they got on almost from the first meeting.

I was told that Sasa was found with ferals and had had kittens. As she was 8yrs old when I took her on and she had been with Cp over a year, it makes one wonder what her history was.

She was rehomed twice before i took her but taken back both times cos she didnt work out..............I wasnt told the extent of her problems and she had been locked in a pen for over a year at cp and it had no run and it  semi inside.

The Cp lady wouldnt touch her and I was told she sometimes nipped and the manager of the cattery put her into the carrier.

I think her situation was that she was reguarded as unhomeable so when I came along and seemed to get on with all the cats, even ones like Misa who was new to them and terrified and hiding, they were willing...................jumped at opprtunity  .........to give her to me , just to get her off their hands.

They said that I would be able to bring her round with patience!!

I was doing OK but after 3 months had to go back to London for a hospital appt and put Sasa and Misa in a cattery................it was not good it turned out and Sasa has never trusted me again. Up to then she would let me stroke her when she was on the stairs and two steps above me but I have never been able to get back to that point.

I made matters worse when she came home cos it was late October and I really wanted her and Misa in at night, so blocked off the flap  although I didnt think she could use it still. She broke the flap open and ran away for a week and stayout in torrential rain and wind but on her return she was as clean as when she went, so she found a good place in a garden two houses up.

Cp said to stop calling and looking for her cos that would make her stay away and we couldnt use food as a bait cos of the rain and at that time would only eat biscuits.  I created a shelter with biscuits in and also had some in another place but didnt know if she was eating them or ginger up the road.

Misa knew where she was and my neighbours said they saw the two of them together at night and thats how she came home, with Misa  ;D

Gill you once said to me "be patient" and I know you have that because you love her.

I'm fortunate in Lexy but only because you and others told me I was doing the right thing in letting her set the pace.

You're doing the right thing, you show her love.  If Sasa really feared you she would avoid you and she doesn't. She lets you live in her house, pander to her ever whim...that's a small sign of trust.

Just hang in there.

Oh Gill, that's horirble for you.

Do you know anything about Sasha's earlier life?  How did you come to get her?   I can't remember if I've ever heard how she came to you.

yep, they none of them like a trip in the car, Smidgen, who barely squeaked the whole way back from Chester, led a long and loud duet with Esther on the way to the vet. Thought maybe i was taking him back to be bossed by mum and half-brother. Esther, who hated being picked up when I got her, is slowing coming to realise it means good things like strokes and individual attention - it comes harder for those who have had it rough...

Today I have stroked Sasa but sadly she was cornered at the time as part of a devious plot to catch her to take her for her health check and booster.

Poor girl cried and cried when she found all the doors were shut and she couldnt escape, broke my heart.

Anyway she got to the vets and I stroked her again while Richard was doing her jab and worming but I think she was paralysised by fear, her poor little body was going up and down at such a rate. Richard agrees with me that she must have had a horrible life before to make her so scared.

I was hissed at and spat at but she didnt try to hurt me, poor beautiful and soft and silky Sasa.

When I got the cage out of the car, she started jumping up and down and she is so heavy could hardly hold onto the cage   She knew she was home and I think when she gets put in a cage she thinks she is being sent away from her home. Never, she will always have a home here and I wish she could understand that.

I know she likes strokes and I wish she would trust me.  :(
