There is every chance he/she isn't even aware that the payment is lost

whose money has not been recieved for a tent.

It seems almost impossible to believe if that person has been on-line and seen this topic they have not coughed up. Had it been me I would be quaking in my boots by now. I suppose it is possible that a cheque could have been lost in the post. I know lately the post has had many problems. Our vets sent  (at the same time)  our Treasurer last months bill and me a copy, our Treasurer received hers a week before me.

Yes Ruth - of course I meant you....!   :evillaugh:

Think the escrow idea's a good one, but can see why it's a lot of hard work.  Like we were saying earlier, that's one of the stinkiest bits - everyone in the background, Tan, Chap Tan, all the mods and administrators - hell, everyone in the main, work their socks off to make this a cracking little site and then someone has to take more than a lend and do something like this to others.  And of course it makes you more suspicious.  How're we gonna know she isn't back at some point in the future?  Well apart from some potentially obvious giveaways.....

Now i gonna be veryyyyyyyyyyyyy illegal here and Sue please forgive me, but there is one person out there over and above the unmentionable one, whose money has not been recieved for a tent. Will you please get in touch immediately with Sue as you promised.

The money has still not been recieved and I would hate to think we have any others still owing money this long after the event.

In future, maybe the best bet is if somebody can get multiple things that there is a demand for, they sell to Tan at cost and they can be bought through the shop.

Yes thats brill i am def up for that but i would mark cost up by 50p  so the cat rescues get a bit out of it ;)  :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh: Plus the postage in UK that would have got added on the price anyway.

Great idea Marky lad.

Best get that shop finished hey!  Then on to the diary  ;D

That was the idea - more than 50p though!  :evillaugh:

i thought the same as rob..the person holds the stock at their own house but the cash side of thing go through the shop..to be honest the tent thing isnt something that has commonly happened so i dont see too much problems in the future.

Re the seller could be the scammer well your not going to send money off to someone unless you really trust them and if i'm honest i've known lots of folk for over a year here and theres maybe less than 20 i'd send money too..not coz i suspect the others but i dont know them well enough.

ebay works because of the ratings, well i dont buy stuff from folk who have poor ratings although theres always a risk it does help. (that wouldnt be possible on here coz we arent going to be buying and selling on a regular basis.)

Yep, Gill, wasn't disagreeing with the thread in general, just that we've given her this much attention again, which we know she craved. But as you say, good has come of it and that's what matters. Don't mind me, I just a suspicious blue star...  :evillaugh:

Hmmm yes ceiling scratchin posts maybe a prob  ;) but def ok for smaller or light items.

It means with the shop like anyother online shop, you order and pay for the goods at the same time. If they are just stock items they can be dispatched the next day or same day if early enough and with any of the purrsonalised Items (stuff ya no know about yet)  :evillaugh: as i need to add your pics to the goods, they will take a few days longer to do and dispatch.

The Purrs shop will sepcialize in Purrsonal stuff (personalized but the Purrs way lol   ie with your own cats on) Not that you didn't know what personaised stuff was  :-: :shify: hmm better go play with lads for 5 mins

But for one things like the Ikea tent would it be ok? as this was done because for many members an ikea is too far off and ebay sellers mark up :(

I happy enough to have Purrs account be a go between things like this when we have a big order for a toy that another member is getting for us etc.  Have been collecting doantions etc from peeps re our fundraisers for a while now on CC and now Purrs so you can trust completely the money will go to whim it is intended.  I run Purrs as a non profit business as 100% goes to cat rescue so every penny coming in and out is recorded and included in annual accounts. As i am an accountant i can do this easily.  Basically any other transcations re toys etc  will be recorded as coming in then going straight out to the seller and the guide lines Gill mentioned are good for anyone buying or selling something posted on Purrs.  There are some very trusted other things we are doing at the mo like the Cat77 swap shop.  They use their own paypal account for the trust and it does go straight to them.

Thing is at the mo it would be alot of work to do individual selling and we don;t want Purrs turning into a mini ebay so any goods peeps have to sell and the proceeds go to a rescue are best placed in the cat77 swap shop pr saved for our xmas auctions.

the slight down side of getting the money before sending the goods is that what if the scammer is the seller? I like the idea of purrs working as a sort of enscrow system they tell you if the money there, send the goods you tell them goods arrived and purrs release the money

yes no??

Yes, I think so.  I personally will continue to trust dozens of people on here, whom I know now, but as the site grows, perhaps we have to put more safeguards in place...

Some how I dont think the seller would be the scammer.............famous last  :censored: words cos of course we may have trusted a certain someone before  >:( >:(

Yes the auction went well but it does run on trust, I hope one bad apple does not attract a barrelful. We have run two auctions now both of them went well..............i nervous now grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Tan and I will have to thing think seriously about the escrow thingy.
