Could be a queen calling or cats having a stand off?  Both sound horrible.

Horrible, you cannot mistake it. The again you can't mistake it if you know what its sounds like in the first place. ;D

It does sound a bit strange.  Each cat sounds different, but normally if they're calling they do sound a bit like they're in pain - we have one near us that gives out a low moaning sound which then rises to a screech.  Paddy tends to go "yow, yow" like some enthusiastic Brummie (apologies Brummies everywhere, although enthusiasm is a good thing usually)

I have been hearing a cat the last few nights crying as if its in pain. Always quite late. I'm not sure where its coming from but ver the back somewhere so I can't go knocking on doors at midnight. Is it a cat calling?

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain
