We're brand new here so I thought I'd introduce you to my motley feline crew.
First to arrive with our family was Kevin. We found him at Bristol Cat and Dogs Home just over 4 years ago. We were looking for a kitten. However, fate rarely works in predictable ways, and my son fell in love with a battered tom cat aged 7 years. It was love at first sight and Kevin felt the same way and proved it by covering my son's faces in kisses
He was, at that time, called Mr Coal, had a huge rip in one of his ears and had a third of his fur shaved off. He'd been found in a coal shute with his front leg trapped in his collar right up to his shoulder, where he had then developed a hugely gaping wound. This has left him with nothing more than an absolute fear of collars and a small excess of skin in his armpit. He is a bit of a miserable old thing, but still adores my son above everybody else and has chosen to live the pampered life of an indoor cat.
Next to arrive was Summer. She arrived just 2 weeks after Kevin as he was so utterly entranced with my son that he would spend no time with the rest of us
And so we returned to Bristol Cat and Dogs Home and they brought out this 17 week old angel who came home with us straight away. She strutted in and, although she kow tow-ed to Kevin in the house, ruled the rest of the street (all toms!) with an iron rod! I can honestly swear, hand on heart, that for the first 9 months that she was with us, not a single day went by without me shrieking "that bloody cat"
She has calmed down a lot and is now very loving. In our new home, she has chosen to be an indoor cat for the time being as she managed to escape the day after our move and scared herself senseless when she realised that she didn't recognise the neighbourhood. I'm working on finding a way to allow her to get out of the house without having to go past the dogs or directly onto the street so that she can go back to her happier lifestyle

And then arrived the ginger demons
I'd recently been feeling a little kitten broody, which eventually became ginger kitten broody. I got in touch with my local vet and they mentioned that a lady had been in that morning to neuter her tom and that she had 3 kittens left from the last litter that he'd sired. As my friend was also looking for a kitten, we went to see them that evening. There were 3 kittens, my friend wanted 1 and I wanted 1 but how could I possibly leave 1 behind??? They are now 11 weeks old and are little whirling dervishes but are not really any bother. They are very entertaining to watch and a lot of fun to have around
This is Mango - the longhair
and Mika - the shorthair
