What an idiot, people like that make me mad

There seem to be quite a few youtube things of cats in call for some very bizarre reason I discovered when I just had a look. No idea why on earth you'd want to put something like that on the internet

Why on earth do they think someone is going to want to listen to their cats making horrendous noises???!!!

Personally I think it's cruel of the owners putting something like that up online.

I think Youtube is a natural habitat for grockles.

I've come across this anti neutering brigade before. It's not worth debating with them because their arguments are flawed from the off. They cannot see the bigger picture. They cannot see the suffering. They know nothing of the plight of litter upon litter of kittens that will probably never find homes.

I didnt go looking for them, went to watch something from a link on here and there they all were !!

Thanks for reminding me I'll go back and register today now that I have more time. I think its one of those animal funnies that do the rounds around the office from time to time .I'm sure I 've seen it before .

Its such a shame that such a fantastic feature as youtube inevitably also provides potential for cruel and dishonest people. I saw one where some men with guns ,out for the day somewhere , shot a Lion . The poor beast was cornered so finally ran at one of the men that shot it. Pity it died before it had a chance to kill the man.They all thought it hugely funny that they had killed the poor animal that had no chance to get away.
I think it might have been in a back yard in America but hard to say.

Some people actually set up animals to film there pain and misery even on cell fones.

Deborah, you're right about a cat being at greater risk of reproductive cancers if she has multiple seasons. I think ovarian is especially dangerous. Unlike us, cats don't release eggs from the ovary until after they mate, so unmated seasons create ripe but unshed egg follicles, which can lead to cancer. )

An FLV cat I had died from thymic lymphosarcoma as a direct result of the virus. This is a cancerous tumour in the chest which made it hard for her to breathe because it prevented her lungs from expanding. I had to have her pts. Poor Bella. (This was years ago, in 87.)

Filming a cat in heat does seem a bit perverted.

I'm glad I haven't seen the cat caught on the cactus plants!!!! I would have flagged it. It's very easy to sign up, Nick. I don't think any of the details I gave in my registration were correct, apart from the hotmail address.

felv doesnt always finish em off with cancer..but its one of the highest probabilitys i think (i'm sure the stats of cancer with or without tumour is very high esp in under 4 year olds)

I think the stats on uterine and ovarian cancer would be fairly low to be honest and testicular / prostate cancer well i dont know as i've never seen or heard of a case at all.(in cats that is) Mammary cancer yes i'd say that if more cats were left unneutered we'd see much much more cases through the doors. Its not uncommon as it is although probably not an everyday procedure in many practices (to operate of mam cancer i mean) However i think its only due to neutering being so common practice thankfully the numbers are reasonably low.

Incidentally, FeLV doesn't always cause tumours in cats, just can't remember the stats off the top of my head. Mammary cancer isn't the only cancer they can get by being unspayed, there is also ovarian and uterine cancers, and testicular and prostrate for males.

re Youtube I wanted to flag something up last night but because I'm not registerd I couldn't. Someone had posted a series of `funnies' under `cats' including someone videoing a kitten that was stuck on top of a lot of cactus plants ?????? poor little mite . luckily there is no address listed or he would find himself on the same plants with 10 broken fingers .

You are not wrong, even one season is said to increase the chance of mammary cancer by 10%

I am having an urgument on YouTube about spaying cats !!

It started with someone posting a video of their cat in season
Somebody had added this comment
"Nice kitties. It is natural. Maybe owner should think about spaying kitties so nobody gets prego. Funny and cute video"

So i replied with
"I second that one!!
Get that poor female spayed before she gets pregnant by a tomcat that will prob have FIV or FeLV !!"

With is where the urgument started -
Got a reply from someone saying (my replys in bold - theres in normal)

Animals also have rights not to get cancers caused by not being spayed.

Lets be honest here, the cat doesnt actually choose to have the kittens, she has to go through pregnancy, birth, bringing them up for 8wks and then the kittens are taken away from her and given away !!
There are so many cats and kittens that are put to sleep every day as shelters are over run with them.
I am actually on yourside regarding the health and welfare of all animals but in my opinion it is kinder to the animal to be spayed."
