Well, she asked me what breed I was after and off the top of my head, all i could think of was Siamese. It's possible she was telling the truth. But if she had of said come and see, I could be in Berlin quicker than I could get there...  :shy:

I guess I will just have to keep my ear to the ground.  :shify:

Any update on this?

Yep, I called this lady and she told me that she didn't have any cats for adoption right now...  :tired:

I have heard back from CC and they do not have any additional info on this rescue. They read the advert at face value with ummmm less reading between the lines, so all I can say really is if you want to contact them and see if they are legit please do.
I have to say, I feel uncomfortable about the advert myself but it maybe just written with too much innocence.

If you obtain any info that makes them lseem ess than legit, CC will follow that up I think.

I have asked CC what info do rescues provide to get a listing or a page and am waiting for the answer.

I know that a rescue that is on my list was rehoming kittens before 8 weeks and CC took this up with them but of course there is limited action that can be taken from a distance and I have to say that I am still suspicious of this particular rescue for a few reasons.

When I read Pinkbear's first post I thought of medical research, dog-fighting, and other horrid things like the fur trade. But it would be odd that they would specify pedigrees if this is the case. I hope it turns out to be a genuine rescue.
Cats were once gods; they have never forgotten this, nor have the people they own.

I think a genuine rescue that cared about cats wouldn't mind if you were checking on their credibility. If they are genuine, maybe they need to change the way they advertise.

It's sounding increasingly non genuine!   >:(

Of course, these kind of people only manage to keep going because people continue to buy from them :(

I think they are selling them on. I've seen Siamese and Persians, even 6-7 year olds, being offered at £150 or more through some places.  :sneaky:

They say they don't care how old the cats are and make particular mention of cats belonging to dead relatives. A dead person can't check up on their beloved, puss.  :shify: :shify:

I'm being awful..! I could well be tearing into a genuine rescue...  :-[ :-[

Er... but I think not, unfortunately.  :scared:

Do you think they might be selling them on or breeding from them?  :-:

This rescue offers to drive miles to meet people at service stations to take unwanted pedigree cats, but they don't list a phone number or even a P.O. box. I'm still suspious.  :shify:

Now that sounds dodgy!

I've sent the link for an ad to Gill.

Maybe Mandy can also offer some light?  :-:

Sounds odd to me, you tend to specialise in one or 2 breeds not pedigrees as a whole.

It may be that they prefer to assess prospective homes and then see if they have a suitable cat rather than advertise cats, for fear of people being lured by apprearances.  Lots of pedigree rescues actually have a waiting list for people wanting rescue cats.  It is unusual for a rescue not to have a website, but I guess that depends on whether the people running the rescue have the time and ability to set it up.

Hmm...  :sneaky:

It's not a group I've ever heard before. Not Cinnamon. Not Chapelhouse. They don't have a telephone, or a snail address anywhere - just an email.  :shify: Their Cat Chat listing does say to email if you can offer a home, but that's the only example of a rehoming effort I can find. (They're hardly likely to get a Cat Chat listing unless it says something like that...)

You could always email them and ask details of their 'kind offer' to enable you to make future plans. It could of course be something like www.cinnamon.org.uk/ especially as they have a Cat Chat listing.

Ladies and gents, this is one of those occasions when my BS'ometer may be playing up, however... I was so bored waiting for OH to turn over so I've room to get in the bed, that I trawled through a few ads in 'that' site and found something which disturbs me.

There's an ad from a rescue specialising 'Pedigree' cats. They offer to take cats whose owners have died, ect. The suspicious thing for me is that they offer to collect cats from miles and miles away from where they're based. They have a Cat Chat listing, but with no details of cats for adopting, only an email address. No website. I did a bit more digging and found they run ads all over the shop - all offering to take cats, but none saying cats are available for rehoming.

So, why would a rescue drive miles to collect a cat, but not have a clear effort to rehome...?  :shify: :shify:

Tell me I'm being silly?  :shy:
