i have never seen a kitten with a eye tremor though and i think you are right lynn
the vet said that kittens are resilient and as she grows it may dissapear

Do you mean the eyes wobble from side to side very quickly when she's focusing hard on something or looking at you? A couple of my persians have had, or have eye wobbles. My Ben is 9 and he's always had an eye wobble (called nystagmus or something - and I think its quite a common genetic thing), and my Suzie who I lost recently to kidney failure, also had an eye wobble. Its never bothered either of them and I've had no worries about it.

Really hope it's something simple that the vet can sort out quickly for her or that she grows out of soon. How old is she now? 4 months?

Might be worth taking her to a show that is nearby for her first one just in case they do refuse her at vetting in because of the wobble as they do check the cats rather closely and the last thing on earth you want is to travel 8 hours to a show to then be told she can't go in. Will she be doing GCCF or FIFe shows (or both)?

If the eye wobble doesn't disappear as she grows or with antibiotics then remember you don't know for definate if it's genetic or not...

Got my fingers crossed for Mango. Hope she doesn't have to wait too long for her appt bless her and that they can sort her breathing out. She's such a brave little soul  :Luv:

I think we should have some pictures of the gorgeous balls of fluff, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease  ;D

Bilob wants to send both the girls huuuuuge fluffy cuddles and lots of kisses and Boopy says can she adopt little Luna please?

when i ased the vet he said dont worry , most people have put there hand to there mouth after playing in the garden as a child and eaten cat poo and most cats dont have it and some people do

ill be very carefull but my friends dont call me mrs bucket for nothing lol

the children and mango getting it does worry me though so i am going to scrub those trays every day lol

good luck with mango, re luna..remember she's a baby and although i dont know if this is the case perhaps kittens are a little like babies where their eyes arent fully co ordinated etc until abit older.

re toxo..just be very careful if you are thinking of getting pregnant sash, its actually better to have had toxo before pregnancy then you'd have antibodies for it..ps i was always under impression its easy to catch which i still think it might be but i was brought up on a farm & very tomboyish, out doors alot and took my lunch out or ate dinner without washing hands as a kid and then worked with vets from mid teens and i got myself tested when preg with connor and i was negative then which made me take extra care, i presumed i would still be negative now.

wash your hands (both sides) after petting the cats or touching anything they have touched and before touching your face or food ......... It all starts getting a bit howard hughes after a bit. Just maintain basic hygiene and you will be fine.

i dont know what to do except wear gloves , wash litter tray every day and refill

the 2 trays are in a large cupbord hat has a door and the cats get in through a flap so that my gorls 4 and 2 cant get to it , thats the way its always been

is there anything eles i can do , also mango uses her tray and vise versa

it might not be toxoplasmosis , its just a precaution

oh CC you really aren't having much luck lately . Fingers crossed for both your babies and take care of yourself also. Toxoplasmosis is very nasty so make sure you take all necessary precautions to protect yourself and your babies.

luna's little tremor
« Reply #1 on: July 23, 2007, 22:11:04 PM »
when we got luna i noticed after spending time looking closley at her eye colour that she had a wobble on her pupil and her coloured part of her eye
i took her to the vets and she said there was nothing there

well today i took her back to see my normal vet and he agreed that she has a tiny tremor , as she has no other simptons like stumbling and is perfectly normal he said that she might have been starved of some oxigen at birth but as her brain grows then it might even correct itself but if not , it shouldnt get any worse ( most people i have asked do not notice it at all ) when she is concentrating on something it goes , its when her eye is relaxed just looking about that it happens

he has also said that anouther thing it might be is toxoplasmosis  :-: there is a test to see if its that but he said the best thing to do is gove her the wks antibiotic treatment anyway just in case as that would treat it and if she didnt have it then the antibiotics will do her no harm

i,m sure i can still show her cause most people dont see it and there is nothing eles wrong , i just hope she does grow out of it or the antbiotics work

i have read up on toxoplasmosis and working with lots of feaces at the cattery even of stray cats it has made me a little worried
i do wear gloves to do the litter trays but the kitchen area is not to my standards in clenliness and neather are the pens on occation , mmmmm i,m going to wear mi rubber gloves all day now lol , oh and i have cought em useing the same gloves to clean up mop up wash pots and do litter trays wi  :( i havnt had a cuppa there at break time since i saw that

also mango has now been refered onto cambridge FAB specialist , they are going to repeat all the test she has already had for her breathing and going to do a MRI scan to look at her airways so fingers crossed we get some answers this time
