I prefer not to name a cat until I know it. But as you say, Smidgen is a lovely name... so he may keep it. My other cat (pending successful home inspection tomorrow) will be Esther. So was thinking Biblical........ or possibly Senegalese (if I can just find my lonely planet to Senegal in all the boxes), but yes, they usually get human names, Bob, Sofie, Reynard, Claudius, Pavarotti, Sarah, Hecate, Tabitha, and so on the list goes - god I must be getting old to have had so many cats!! There have also been Cinders (for the black toes on his white sox) and Serendipity (because I had not intended to buy a cat that day), so there is no knowing really.... But Smidgen is nice, isn't it
