It is excellent. I don’t know if you are aware but if you order via a link for Vet UK on our charity site or one of the other charity sites we receive a 5% commission and it is also cheaper than from the vet.

There is a chance of it laying eggs before finding the cat but once on the cat it will die quickly  thats why a spray of the house is a good extra measure. Indorex lasts 12 months so not a big task.

sorry but i still havent had a reply to my question 

i ask if all pets are treated with frontline and u brought a flea in with u , would the flea jump on the pet then die or would u still have an infestation ?
oh and re vet uk i never have to wait longer than 48hrs for my orders and before ive had them the next day after ordering the afternoon before

It was a week for me

I can honestly say I have never waited longer than 2 or 3 days.  I suppose if you ordered say late Friday it may not be posted until Monday.

Is there any diff in safety (livers etc) between Frontline and Advantage as think for travelling mine would get Frontlined

I know for CRF cats frontline is safer than stronghold because its stored in the skin whereas as stronghold is stored in the organs (systemic).
I dont know about Advantage as have never used it!

Maybe something we ordered took a while to come into stock? Or probably just the post - it seems to take ages for everything round here

I am STILL waiting for my package from Vet UK - postie tried to deliver yday (well, prob didnt even bother taking it out of the office cause in the past they have put through the red slip for stuff that EASILY fit through the box - I've tried it!) and they are ON STRIKE today so we cant go and get the stuff.

Grr grr grr grr grr!!!!

Took off their collars, Ela  - going to putthem in the hoover to kill the blighters I hoover up. Sick of it now

Far better to treat on a regular basis than just wait until your vet tells you your little one has fleas in my opinion. Of course a cat with a flea will most certainly have tapeworm. Also just because because you do not see a flea on a cat it does not necessarily mean that there are no fleas in the home as fleas live in the crevices of the home and jump onto a cat for a feed.

What you would need to do is comb the cat every day especially from the neck to the base of the tail and then put the contents of the comb onto a damp paper towel, and if any red spots appear the cat most certainly has fed a flea.

We frontline Jess every 4-5 weeks as I work in an office with dogs so I don't want to bring any fleas home with me!

if pets are treated with frontline every 4 weeks and u bring in a flea on your clothes etc will you still be infested then or will the fleas jump on the pet then die ?
i frontline my girls every 4 weeks without fail .

Occasionally I find a collar in our food bin, I am afraid you will know where they end up as we don't advocate collars at all.  Very recently I was reading the instructions on a packet and it stated my advice, although I had known it for a long time. Even our vet will not flea a cat that has just had its flea collar taken off. It is like mixing Ajax (do they still sell it) and bleach. (Two toxic substances). Although I appreciate the flea collar is not very effective apart from the neck area it is still a very dangerous practice.

I would certainly wait a week to Frontline.

I will take their collars off tonight then - I heard that putting one in the hoover kills the eggs you hoover up? So I might try that with all 3 

So do you think I should give them the Drontal, spray house with Indorex and then wait a week from today for the Frontline...?

I hope the package from Vet UK comes soon, I am sick of being bitten

I agree and also very dangerous if put on within a week of another flea preparation, or indeed a flea preparation put on within a week of taking off a flea collar.

In the days before Frontline, I'd pay my kids a penny a flea if they presented them to me squished on a tissue.

We stil have fleas  and our three are indoor - waiting for our package of recommended items from Vet UK 

The flea population dipped for a bit when we used supermarket stuff but it is rubbish - we boil washed EVERYTHING, cleaned everything and sprayed cats, got them all flea collars, sprayed whole house, and they still came back...

Calculated we've spent £37.50 after supermarket THEN proper stuff

It just occured to me that those peeps who have indoor cats should be aware of the risk of picking up fleas at the vets

Quite right. you could be sat next to someone on a bus or stood by someone in a shop and if they have a flea on their clothng it can easily be passed on.

Yep, I went guns blazing yesterday... Frontline, Milbemax - the whole shamozzle!
BTW, TS, the wall is 10 feet high, 8 inches thick and made of York stone... I'd love to see a hedgehog in my garden, but it'll send some semtex to get in.   

Thing is, I don't recall signing an adoption certificate to accept these fleas from the vet? 

On the other hand, the village bus driver is always scratching....

Oh yes -  a few of us had a reminder that indoor cats can get fleas last autumn 

I now pay a bit more attention to flea treatment and mine get advantaged on a regular basis (esp during the summer).

It's easy enough to walk them into the house as well. All you need to do is stroke a random cat in the street and fleas could jump onto your clothes which you then walk into your house.

Give the house a thorough spray with Indorex to kill off any fleas in bedding, carpets etc and give your cat a worming tablet like Milbemax or Drontal as well. Personally in the summer I'd do them every month with Frontline as it's peak flea season. Since your cats do go outside (even though it's enclosed) I wouldn't leave it any longer than once every two months between Frontline applications anyway as they can pick them up from hedgehogs in the garden etc.

We live in a house with a very high brick retaining wall. Mine have never been outside of our garden since they moved here last year, so effectively they are indoor cats with a sort of conservatory. 

So, as they never come into contact with other animals, and don't go outside so to speak, I only frontline occasionally. In fact, it's been since Christmas (when OH brought his pals round, and they bought their dog!) since I've seen a flea!

But yesterday, I spotted a flea on Jumpy.  Either they have been brought in by the humans, OR.. a couple of weeks ago Jumpy went to the vets for some treatment.

It just occured to me that those peeps who have indoor cats should be aware of the risk of picking up fleas at the vets.
