Its a third of the strength so they need more of it.  I guessed it would be alot more expensive! Typical.

I dont like the syringe that comes with it either.

Vet finally got round to telling me about this tonight, but there is a downside to it - it is 3 times more expensive than the dog one, but 4 times more concentrated (or the other way round!!). Sadly, they have to give the cat one first, so that means more animals are going to miss out due to cost - she was telling me about a dog drug that the same has happened to, it cost £15 for one days worth for a 40kg dog, compared to £2 for the old med.
Please spay your cat

Its on NOAH http://www.noahcompendium.co.uk/Boehringer_Ingelheim_Limited/Metacam_0_5_ACY-nbsp_ADs-mg_ml_Oral_Suspension_for_Cats/-40676.html

and also here http://www.vetstreamfelis.co.uk/whatsnew.asp#

I bet it works out more expensive than using the doggy one. If it wasnt covered by insurance i'd probably stick with that. I hate being ripped off  :shify:

Taz has it when he has outbreaks with his bladder. Touch wood he's doing ok at the moment  :Luv:

Where did you get info MM as I couldn't find anything on their website and sent them an email. Waiting for reply and collecting new drops tomorow. I too hope it's same flavour as Tom just licks it off his dentabits biccies. It's like a treat for him and will be great to be able to let him have "treats" more often without worrying as much about effects on his kidneys. Is Taz on them for arthritis too?

Ooo thats good  ;D is it drops? I hope its still honey flavour as Taz loves it

Gill, its welcome because metacam liquid is only licensed for dogs, other cat safe drugs are in an injectable form.

Our Tom is on Metacam pain killing drops for his arthritis. Just found our today from vet that a version for cats has just been relaesed and they are getting their 1st batch tomorrow. You all prob knew all about it of course but, just in case, thought I'd mention it. I'm so pleased as our boy has been feeling his arthritis more than usual recently which I've put down to bad weather and I am always wary of increasing dose as he is on it long term.
