I've just taken 3 of the ferals to their new home.......I've still got one to catch  :tired:  They will be spending the next 3 weeks in a huge barn but once they get their freedom they will love it  :Luv:  :Luv:  There are tonnes of little hidey places and lots of fields for them to do their mousing in.....I'm sure they'll be very happy in their new home  :)

I felt awful taking them, Tasha, Ellie and Ollie have gone and poor babes were shaking  :'(  :'(........I really, really hate the initial settling in period but I'm sure once that's out the way, they'll be happy as pigs in muck  ;)

The guy phoned me up this morning and was on the phone about an hour  :tired:  He sounds lovely and is really looking forward to having cats around the place again.  He's got a barn all ready for them, I was just going to look today but he's asked if I can take a couple up with me and if I'm happy with everything, can they stay and take the other 2 over next week  :tired:  I've now got to trap a couple to go with me but if I had doubts, I wouldn't waste my energy..........I'll update later  ;)

Aww, that's great, Dawn - they all seem so lovely, you must do so much work with them and they know that they are loved.

Dawn, just curious - when you rehome ferals do you know if they tend to stay at their new homes or do they ever wander off of their own accord weeks/months later?  I always wonder if ferals settle okay in their new surroundings when rehomed.  Would the 4 that you are hoping to rehome just now have originally been taken in together from another colony/location or are they 4 separate cats that have tolerated each other at your abode that you feel would be okay living together.

Good luck with the rehoming check - I think you do a marvellous job.  I've 'owned' 2 ferals and 1 semi-feral in my time and found it so rewarding when they gain the confidence to trust you despite being so timid.  They ask for so little and give so much.

All the one's I've rehomed have stayed in their new homes, but most have gone as pets rather than farm cats so there's a bit of a difference.  I've had a few of mine escaped whilst here courtesy of my dog opening the door and letting them out, but they do come back in again, so I'm pleased they see it as home whilst they're here.  When I rehome them to be outdoor, I make sure they keep them in for a minimum of 4 weeks, preferably longer and I only ever rehome in pairs or more.  The one's that go together can either be from the same colony or one's that have bonded whilst living with me.  All my ferals get on really well and are really loving with each other.......they make you want to cry watching them, soft I know but they do love each other dearly  :Luv:  :Luv:  I will only rehome where they are well looked after and fed on a regular basis, alot of the homes I get are via my vets and they know what sort of homes I want for them so I don't usually have any concerns.

I think it will be tops for them........Sean knows the guy and knows what I'm like with the ferals, he wouldn't have given my number out if he didn't think it was suitable.   And I need the room now with having the other kittens with the backend problems  :tired:

Sean gave my number out the other day to one of his clients who wants 4 ferals   He's just phoned me up now and he sounds a really nice guy......got loads of land and plenty of sleeping places for them and he's not too concerned if they go in the house  :evillaugh:  I'll be doing a homecheck on Friday but I honestly can't see any problems.  He's got a couple of large cow sheds that they can settle into until they can be released, and he's more than happy to feed them on a regular basis  :yesss:  I will have to sort out who is going now  :shify:
