Hi house check went well, chatted for two hrs who said it wasnt going to take long, anyway the lady from CPL she said YES

running around now getting things organised, cat tray check, pet carrier check, toys check, food check, bed check, etc

so i will pop up later 2day hopefully and c who my new furbabe will be. sorry who will adopt me i mean

will let u know who picks me and post pics ...............................................

Queue list of CP volunteers saying she's worrying about naught...

I've done homechecks before, a few years back when I was helping a v. small cat rescue in London. I couldn't give a monkeys about laundry, peeling paint or leaves on the patio. What's required is access to clean fresh food, clean water, no vicious dogs or boy racers runs nearby, and lots of cuddles.

I used to spin a yarn about a kitten in plaster, or an old Tom covered in oil and puss and if they get angry or cry, they are likely to be good folks.

As Gill said, tell them you're trying to get over the loss of a much loved cat and they'll try to speed things up.

You'll breeze through it...

My CP home check was very casual and friendly.

They knew I had lost Kocka only 3 days before but was desperate for another cat, I had only moved here 6 months before also. I emailed them the day after Kocka went to the Bridge and I had two cats 6 days later. They also transported me to Swansea and back twice within 3 days.

I am sure if you explain that another cat is needed in your life very quickly to help with the grieving process they will try and get the check done asap. cos you are potentially gonna take one of their needy cats fast.

Good luck with the homecheck and hope they have just the cat for you.

Homechecks are not as bad as people think. They are looking at what type of home you have so they can match the right cat, eg. how busy your road is & to meet all household members, not how tidy things are. A prim home maybe wouldnt suit a rampant kitten

if theres a pack of 6 crazy dobermans next door they would suggest an indoor cat, that kinda thing.

hi im a bit worried now about my home visit from the CPL wot are they looking for, how long befor they get in touch. They told me 7/10 days.

my sister thinks im of my trolly shes prob right.

went into the garden today to sit with Bob and have a word (funny how that habit sticks, is it because they dont judge us) and found a wee feather i think i just found my first pet angel feather (no we dont have pigeons near, we live nearer the country than the city centre)

thought about that to then thought i should except it and be grateful.
feeling a bit more cheerful, maybe that was the plan,

I am so sorry....

I think you're doing absolutely the right thing by Bob, by offering his place in your house to another needy soul. It never replaces them, or makes the pain any less, but facts are there's a terrified, tired and hungry little mite waiting for a cuddle and a bowl of fresh food. What better way to begin to recover?

So sorry to hear of your loss, I am like Rosella in that I find the best way of coping is to help another needy cat. Good luck with your homecheck, and I Do hope that you can give another cat some of the love that Bob had, he would be proud of you.

No of course you're not being silly. It is very painful to lose a much loved pet and good on you for choosing to re-home from a rescue centre. There are so many cats looking for caring homes. I hope you don't have to wait too long for a home check and am pleased you didn't choose a cat first and then have to wait for the homecheck. Much better to be checked first and choose a newbie later so you can take him or her straight home.

so sorry to hear about your loss . I wish I could say that it gets easier but When a little piece of our heart is broken off I don't think it ever truly mends, I still cannot think of my Teddy without tears over two years on. Try to keep in mind all the good times that you shared together and what a lucky little cat your Bob was to share his life with such a loving and caring Mum.

dont feel so silly now, but i was thinkin of gettin a new fluffy friend, so i went to the local rescue centre today and thought some of the sights i saw needed a bit of TLC like me. arranged for a home check and might have some fluffy company soon all being well

Hope you don't think I'm being unfeeling. It really is entirely up to how you feel whether or not getting a newbie will help. There is however no magic cure and you will have to go thru the grieving process whatever happens. 3 weeks is really not that long.

Sorry that you have found us in such sad circumstances. As Rosella says everyone on here understands what you are going through. I have to agree with Rosella that, when you feel ready, sharing the love that you have for Bob is the greatest tribute to him and can help to ease the pain.

So sorry to hear of your broken heart.

You will find many understanding people on here that have been thru what you're going thru. I have lost a number of much beloved furries over the years, two last year and you have my deepest sympathies. The pain can be very deep. Not everyone will agree but the only way I ever manage to get thru without falling completely to pieces is to get myself a distraction which of course means another cat or two. Not to replace my loved one but to take my mind off the hurt. Given time, I get to love the "newbies" but the memories of the departed ones never fade altho the pain does dim over time.

Not sure if you have already but you may want to post something about Bobcat on the Rainbow Bridge section?
