Aww glad he enjoys fuss.

Just take your time getting them used to each other.

It takes a while, I'm still working with my three.

Lirael will swipe at you if you leave before she's had enough fuss.

Course, she swipes at anything that moves.

Thank you all. I do hope they get on, as he really is a lovely cat. Fantastic disposition, but he has a thing about feet and legs, he swipes at you (all the while purring his head off!!!! )

I am going to be persistant and will follow the advice given on here and the print outs from the links above. BUT will not rush things. Rosie has settled back down to normal, I've ordered Felliway for them both.

Bagpuss loves to nuzzle his head into your hand and allows you to stroke from the top of his head to the tip of his tail.  ;D

Awww he looks a bit like Doc  :Luv: what a contented cat!

I hope he and Rosie become friends soon - it took a while when we first introduced Gerti and Cheese, lots of sniffing, "brr"ing, meowing, hissing and Cheese had a tail like Basil Brush

It was worse when we got Doc cause Gerti and Cheese (now best of friends, always sleeping/washing together) didnt want a boy cat ruining their fun  :evillaugh: they are all friends now, I think we are lucky for that! Doc and Cheese play fight all the time and all three wash each other - Doc pins Cheese down by the head to wash her, its really funny

So just wanted to say, don't get disheartened if they dont get on straight away - took my lot a while to get this friendly  :Luv:

To think I might not see those eyes, makes it so hard not to cry, and as we say our long goodbyes, I nearly do.

Thank you Milly's Mum.

I am going to wash everything down again tomorrow I've done everywhere he has been, I have washed the covers on the sofas etc and cleaned it as best as I can, but can do a thorough job tomorrow when my Son is at school. I have looked at the link, and printed it off.

Helen

Thank you for the link I have printed that off too!

Here is a photo of Bagpuss (Bagster), he really is lovely, but doesn't stay still very much as he is too busy rubbing up against you and purring his head off!!! ;D

Rosie has settled down again now, she can obviously still smell him, but is alot calmer about it.

http://www.wizz-catz.co.uk/behavioural.html

Its not too late to go back to the beginning with them, the above website belongs to a behaviourist so is a good place to start.
Theres a product called Feliway which helps calm things down and you could also try Bachs rescue remedy, its a herbal liquid. Vet uk sell feliway much cheaper than the vets and they have an offer on at the moment too  ;) (dont forget to use a rescue link)
He's fiv isnt he?

Also, its very important to clean the areas he has sprayed on so a) he doesnt reoffend and b) so Rosie doesnt get upset. Simple Solution from pets shops or biological washing powder followed by a spirit  ;D

Thanks Delsey, I know, I thought it would have been ok as they saw each other when Bagster arrived. I will keep him in the spare room a few days more then, I let him out this morning as he was miaowing at the door. He was out for around an hour and he was just lying under the table snoozing when Rosie jumped down.

I feel awful, I hope I haven't done any damage.

Will look at the intoductions.

Thank you for your advice, much appreciated.

Personally, I wouldnt have let them see each other so soon, but you have now, so its a bit late for that. If you do a search on here for introductions, you will find some good links and tips.

I guess this was normal but it was horrible!

Bagpuss went for Rosie today. She had jumped down from her climbing tree, Bagster came in and saw her. They squared each other up and I stood next to them in case it all went off. There was a bit of hissing and growling, no puffing themselves up this time. And then they went for it! Rosie jumped on the sofa and Bagpuss took the opportunity!

It lasted only seconds then I managed to get in between them and put Bagster back in the room, where he has been most of the day, however Kieran and I have gone in from time to time to play with him. I have to admit it scared me a bit, but I know it's early days. I was thinking of letting him out again for an hour or so tomorrow and see how it goes.

He has also managed to spray his scent most places (covers from the sofa are in the wash this time!)

Is it normal for them to attack each other? I really want them to get on!

Thank you all.

Last night was quite uneventful, however he decided to go to the toilet in Rosie's box on her climbing frame! I had a blanket in there, so it's now in the wash!

I have let him out for a little bit as he was miaowing at the door. Rosie is watching him like a hawk. I was tickling his chest last night and he went for me, I guess he doesn't like that, so will not be doing that again!

Hehe, I was going to comment on the ear thing possibly being to do with feral neutering but two people already mentioned it.  ;D

Congratulations and welcome to Bagpuss. (That's actually one of the nicknames my oldest girl has!)

but the top of his ear is missing, nobody knows how, it looks as though it's been cut as it is a clean cut accross.

Some groups who trap ferals remove part of the ear of cats they neuter to help identify they've been done. Maybe he got mixed in with a batch..?

Best of luck with him

Ah bless!  :Luv: Sounds like he's settling in really well - it won't feel long before you'll think he's been there all his life!  ;D The odd hiss and splutter is inevitable at the beginning, but looks like things are going well. Kudos to you for homing him.

If he's that friendly, has a lovely disposition and doesn't object being handled, ever thought about showing? Unlike for pedigrees, household pets are judged on temperament as well as presentation.  :)

 :1st place: :cheer: :yayyy:

Cant wait for pics  ;D

In regards to the ear, when a stray/feral is neutered and released they are often ear tipped to show they are done. Sometimes a homeless domestic cat will become agressive towards humans, once neutered and shown some TLC they revert back to being domestic. Not everybody will give the time to assess if feral or domestic so just let them go labelled as feral. Which he obviously isnt!

They think he is around 4 years old, he was found as a stray (I'm sure he must have been someone's pet - he is sooo friendly), he is in good health, but the top of his ear is missing, nobody knows how, it looks as though it's been cut as it is a clean cut accross.

Well, it is with great sense of pride that I announce Bagpuss's arrival (or as my Son would like to call Bagster) :wow:

He is currently chilling out in the spare room. Already used his litter tray and is the most friendly and affectionate bundle of fur I have ever met.

Rosie has caught a glimpse of him and has done the hissing and spitting and puffed herself up the size of a beach ball!

I have used a flannel and put a bit of his scent on it and put it on Rosie's scratch post and she is currently lying on it. I have also done this with Bagster. I really hope they get used to each other, or rather Rosie get's used to him. He seemed fine with her and had no problem at all when Jenny from the rescue let him out the carrier.

I will post pictures as soon as I can, just want him to settle a bit first.
