Hey, it wasn't derogatory, I have three cats with tatty ears and one missing altogether ear. Adds character. :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

I like tatty - he fits in well with the rest of us. :)

Well, he's much more settled and relaxed but is still causing Drum grief. He's really just a bumbling boy who doesn't take a hint! However, she's keeping him in order and it doesn't seem to be affecting her - still got a good appetite, seems happy (unless he's nearby and trying to join her).

It's only been three weeks so it's still early days.

Would love to get another cat for him, but we don't have the space. Plus, I think Drum would leave home!
But Vincent is turning out to be a really lovely cat. He's super affectionate and a big gentle softy. Here he is stretched out on the sofa next to me as I write this.

Looking at this photo again, reminds me of how much bigger Vincent looks, compared to Drum.  How's it going?

Actually, getting another cat "for him" isn't a bad idea.  If you can pick one who also wants to play, they will potentially bond, leaving Drum to snooze in peace.  I love the photo and think they look like they're getting along really well all things considered.  :)

The lovely lad is doing well - this is him and Drum on the bed together this morning while we had our morning cuppa. They both seem quite relaxed which is great for only two weeks - they ate dinner next to each other last night with no swearing or bad manners.

He's learning (slowly) not to shove his face in hers and not to come up behind her (he's get a paw swipe if he does that), so I'm hopeful things will be okay. I just wish she was more friendly because he really wants to play and be friends. I might have to get another cat just for him!
He's still very timid and startles easily, but he's got so many lovely qualities that it doesn't matter.  :Luv:

Whatever we think a cat can't do, we need to re-evaluate.   :-:

Yes, it is amazing what gaps cats can get into, including ones you never knew existed, or were big enough for a cat!

Vincent, invincible.  Hones his ninja skills silently and creatively.  :evillaugh:    We lost  the gurlies in a closed room.     They'd managed to to gain access to a closed sliding door wardrobe.   Whatever we think a cat can't do, we need to re-evaluate.   :-:

Turns out he'd found a loose kickboard in the kitchen and got underneath a cupboard. :sneaky:
James did the same the second day I had him, although he had a missing kickboard to entice him .  Like you I looked everywhere, checked all the windows, cupboards, obvious hidey holes, obscure hidey holes, downright daft places a cat could surely never get into.  He eventually emerged covered in dust :-[ wondering what all the fuss was about.

After I blocked up the gap, he took to getting on top of the wall cupboards, crouching behind the cornice and watching me look for him until I eventually looked up .

It must be a black cat thing :naughty:.

The little b*****d gave us the fright of our lives!
Left the spare room door open when we went to bed on Thursday, mainly because every night he's tried several times to dig his way out, but also because he's already ventured out a bit, so it wasn't all new and scary.

Next morning he'd vanished.

We searched everywhere about three times (it's only a small house). Then DH noticed that one of the downstairs windows wasn't locked - it wasn't open, but it could be pushed open, and Vincent's definitely strong enough. Only thing was, if he'd done a bunk out the window, he would have to have closed it again from the outside.
I was so fraught with worry that by the end of the day I'd started to believe he'd done this. Turns out he'd found a loose kickboard in the kitchen and got underneath a cupboard. :sneaky:
He stayed there all day Saturday, venturing out late in the evening (he's definitely a night bird).

We've blocked the route underneath the cupboard now, and he's fine - I took this picture of him sitting on the stairs about 20 minutes ago (he's still there).
Most of the time he looks like he wants to kill someone, but it's just his face - he's a big softie. I've even had a purr out of him a couple of times.
He's a proper ninja - he's so quiet he can slip by without anyone noticing.

The main thing is that Vince(nt) will begin to feel less wary in time and more comfortable in his new home and that will work wonders, as it's doing for Penny.

my new kid in town - see thread below this one - has been here 5 weeks today and has yet to venture out of my bedroom - it's probably easier for me because she is not afraid of people - it's just Tiffany who is keeping her confined to the bedroom, although Tiff has done nothing - it's enough for Penny that she is in the next room and is a C.A.T

I bet Vincent soon turns into Vincy - it would in this house anyway - Penny is gradually morphing into PennyPuss

I read him Mr Mistoffelees, it suits him.
Talking of names, we've decided to change his to Vincent. I just haven't been able to see him as a Victor and I keep accidentally calling him Vincent. Turns out, so does DH. Vincent is also a softer sound so he might respond better to it.

Here's a not very good pic of him - I couldn't coax him out of his igloo bed so it's just a face. Still very wary, poor thing. (But he seemed to enjoy a few verses from Practical Cats - he started nodding off.)

Poor boy is not happy.
Hasn't eaten anything since we brought him home, hasn't used his litter tray, and isn't interested in treats.

We're going to get him some chicken (it's Drum's favourite so it won't go to waste!), and I'm going to read him a bit of Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats later.

I know in time we'll be rewarded with a fantastic cat. :)

Victor's home!
He was as good as gold on the 50-minute car journey, not a peep out of him. Now he's in the spare room, hiding behind a desk (so no photos yet).
According to the rescue and his fosterers, he's quite timid and will take some time to feel confident so I'm not too worried.

Me too, they're a bit special.

This one was neutered relatively late so he has that lovely broad tom cat head (well, I think it's lovely!).
