Anyone used an inflatable collar?

How long did they try the Zylkene for? It does take at least two weeks to show any effect, Merlin was aggressive, but only to Emo, but he used to overgroom his tail to baldness in places. I also used Beaphar Calming spot on drops.

I don't know, but he lives with many other cats so it might be tricky.

Could he possibly be stressed? I only ask because I found that the Zylkene worked in food to destress cats,including over grooming if he doesn't have a flea allergy.

A comfycollar worked really well for kylie after she had a toe removed, but I think stopping the itching is the main thing. Just the idea of having an an itch and not being able to get to it is horrible. We used to have a cat called Clapton, who had allergic dermatitis. My vet recommended using something that is usually given to cats for ear problems. He said to put it on Clapton's itchy areas. He said it was for it's 'anti-prurient properties rather than its main use. The idea was to break the itch-scratch-itch cycle. It worked

Would a babygro work rather than needing to wear a collar all the time?

I was thinking the same thing. After changing his flea treatment we ended up taking Frankenstein to the vet as he was ripping his fur off. Turns out he is allergic to fleas and whilst we waited for the treatment to start working our vet recommended modifying a baby grow to protect him doing any more damage. Worked a charm...and he looked fantastic!

We are trying a new spray for our vets which includes skin conditions so will get the name it has worked on Nutmeg who had an area that was raw to say the least now all the hair has grown back and we are now using it on Lima our 19yo feral and his first ever abscess

Thanks everyone, I've read lots of conficting reviews about them - they're either all or nothing.

Poor lad's problem is his belly, he bites it raw then it gets infected and painful. Apparently he's been tried on everything - creams, pills, alternative remedies - but nothing helps. He's loads better since he's been wearing the cone but it just looks so uncomfortable and awkward. I think they're fine for a week or two but not months on end.

Much would depend on where the poor lad overgrooms and whether he can still reach that area of his body.

They aren't so expensive that it's not worth trying whether if works or not.  I used with Bob when he had an eye problem a few years ago and a thousand times more comfortable than the wretched Elizabethan ones.

Comfy collars are great we used them when Billie jo and Boston had eyes removed they had them on for 12 weeks with no issues, they also could jump and eat without the banging off anything which happens with the cone of shame. Also had the xl version for Sky when he had a lump removed they are great = we like to think of the intiail payout as an investment as they can be reused

It's not for one of mine, it's for a cat who has to wear a cone long term (overgrooms and bites himself raw). I think an inflatable would be more comfortable but wondered if it would be as effective.
