Such a big difference in him - you don't notice the same when you see them daily, it's when you put photos side by side.

Bless Robbie.

Well, I couldn't believe it but Robbie has soldiered on all through the year, when he would go off his food, we'd either try a different
type or give him his steroid tablets for a few days, it's only been the last week he has been off usually finding vomit on the carpet
most mornings, I'll be going to the vet tomorrow to see if I can get something to get him to keep his food down.
I managed to get a photo of him in one of his favorite perches today, I then compared it to one taken 5 years ago, it's heartbreaking  :'(

Stuart, know too well how you'll be worrying like crazy.  It may not help you much, but we're all thinking of Robbie, and sending super strengff vibes for when his Dad is offshore.

Oh well, it had to happen, Back to work tomorrow, for 3 weeks :(

Robbie is still Robbie, cleaning himself, eating plenty of soups (still don't know if he keeps it down, and what his toileting is like?)
Sleeping and Stretching, just being Robbie  :Luv:

His steroid tablets run out in 5 days time, so we will need to get more, just hope they keep working for as long as they can  :scared:

I would hate for things to go downhill when I am offshore  :'(

OK I have discovered the cat flap issue is my fault
It is a sureflap, the ones where you can control the time of the comings and goings, I remember a few days ago
playing about with the settings as it was windy and this was stopping the flap returning to closed position, I thought
I had returned it to it's Original setting, as my OH had to get out of bed at 1am to let Robert out, she checked the
setting tonight and noticed for exit, it was set not to open

this has now been rectified  :innocent:

re chicken livers, I'd try lightly poaching them in water so the middles are still raw, as the smell seems stronger after cooking - they are very soft cooked this way so should blend easily

he has started doing is incessant meowing to get outside at all hours
don't know why he has stopped using his cat flap? he uses it to come back in]

Sounds like he may have had a bit of a confidence knock when using the flap.  That might be because of an encounter when leaving the house, or if he's having a low episode, feeling a bit under the weather and worried he can't make good his exit.

Malt went through a phase of only going out if the patio doors were open, whilst using the flap to get back in.  In her case it was because she kept being ambushed by our neighbour's cat, who loathes her (poor little scrap - she's just a tot compared to him).

She can and does use the flaps, but prefers it if the door is left ajar.  Our kitchen is consequently always freezing at this time of year.....  :-:

Yes Heather, been slightly heating the food for a while, it does make a difference

He is still Robbie, Still cleaning himself, just wish he would eat a bit more :(

It is mostly liquid, I think, not promising, I still have a few in the garage. Would you like me to post them up for him? Misa is back on normal diet.

Have you tried the cat soup? It does have some lumps in it, but maybe you could mash them a bit. Misa loved them just after his teeth were removed and his gums ulcerated.

Hi Paula, that is the main thing he laps up, loves it, but still won't eat the meaty bits, I tried putting a couple of satchets in the blender but he just turned his nose up

Thanks Sue

stuart we had the exact same thing with our Oscar, he had a few good months between diagnosis and making the call - he loved his food and they day that stopped I knew it was time but he had a good life until then, he didn't know he was ill and the vet assured us he felt no pain.  sounds like Robbie doesn't know he is ill either and long may it continue

Stuart, I'm gutted for you, your OH and Robbie.  I know this is something you've probably considered and dreaded hearing.  Noting we say will alter how you're feeling now, but genuinely, you've cared so much for Robbie, and he's known such love and affection and care whilst he's shared your lives.  That much, you couldn't better if you tried.    I'm so sorry the news is so devastating.
