I bet you can't wait to have all 3 back home and to be feeling stronger yourself   I know I'd miss Mosi and Kito so much if they weren't here. It was hard enough last year when I put them in the Cattery even though it was for a good reason and I had a holiday to enjoy.

you should have a smoke alarm that works, maybe put it somewhere where the toast can't set it off? :naughty:

Yes they used a Geiger counter on Silvie, I remember they rang me when I was in Margate for the day as I hoped she could come home the next day but they said her levels were still high so had to be another week.  By the following week they had dropped right back to normal.  I felt like a little kid on Christmas Eve knowing I was going to get her the next day :innocent:

I DO BUT NOT CONNECTED COS IT USE TO GO OFF EVERY TIME I MADE TOAST. A RIGHT PAIN.

MISA SHOULD NOT BE HOME BEFORE THE RADIO ACTIVITY IS GONE.................PRESUMABLY THEY USE A GEIGER COUNTER OR SOMETHING  :innocent: :innocent:

all sounds good still, and he is settled well. Silvie was moved out of the radio active unit after about a week to 10 days then she went into the normal cattery. If you have a smoke alarm at home, make sure your litter tray is not near it, as when Silvie got home she did a poo and it set off our smoke alarm

HE SHOULD BE CLEAR OF THE RADIOACTIVITY IN ABOUT 4 WEEKS BUT WILL OBVIOUSLY LEAVE THIS TOO LANGFORDS DISCRETION.  I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT AT 2 WEEKS HE WILL BE MOVED INTO AN INTERMEDIATE WARD, SO GUESS HE WILL BE IN LESS ISOLATION FROM STAFF THAN AT FIRST.

LANGFORD HAVE GREAT FACILITIES AND SO WISH I COULD HAVE SEEN WHERE HE IS STAYING PRIOR TO TREATMENT BUT AS I UNDERSTAND HE HAS HIS OWN ACCOMODATION WITH SLEEPING QUARTERS UP A RAMP AND THEN LIVING AREA DOWN AT BOTTOM AND PRESUMABLY LITTER TRAY FOOD AND WATER. IT IS LIKE A CATTERY SET UP RATHER THAN A VETS.  HE GETS ATTENTION EVERYDAY WITH BRUSHING AND STROKES AND THEY SAY HE LOVES HIS ACCOMODATION.

WHEN HE RETURNS HOME HE WILL BE TOTALLY BACK TO NORMAL AND NO SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS NECESSARY SO ABLE TO MIX WITH SASA AND LUPIN.

IF I HAD BEEN ABLE TO COPE WITH HIM ISOLATED AND TO DEAL WITH THE RADIOACTIVE LITTER HE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO COME HOME AT 2 WEEKS BUT AFRAID THAT REALLY ISNT AN OPTION.

MY GOODNESS IT WILL BE GREAT TO HAVE MY FURRY FAMILY ALL BACK HOME AGAIN AND TO FEEL THEIR FUR AND HEAR THEIR PURRS.

Great news, Gill.

Sorry if you've said before but for how long will he be radioactive?  When he comes home will he need to be kept separate for a while or can he be fully integrated straight away?

THANK YOU HEATHER AND YES THATS WHY THE SEDATION. I AGREE IT IS LIKELY TO BE VERY LIGHT BUT PROBABLE MORE THAN WHEN THEY DID THE HEART SCAN COS THEY DIDNT GIVE HIM ENOUGH SO GOT QUITE ROUGH PICS BUT JUST ENOUGH TO TELL HE WAS OK.

I AM SURE IF HE DOESNT EAT THEY WILL FOLLOW WHAT HAPPENED WITH SYLVIE BECAUSE AS FAR AS I CAN TELL HE IS BEING LOOKED AFTER VERY WELL AND THERE ARE STUDENTS ALSO LOOKING AFTER THEM UNDER SUPERVISION.

YES I HOPE I WILL BE TOTALLY BACK TO MY USUALLY SELF BY THE TIME HE COMES HOME AND ITS GOING TO BE A GREAT REUNION WITH ALL 3 BACK TOGETHER..........GIVES ME SOMETHING TO REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO   ;D ;D ;D ;D

wooo very positive now, great news! Silvie was sedated, vets said they have to sedate them to keep them still as they don't want radio active meds flying around the room if the cats jump or struggle :evillaugh:  But she only had a very light sedation as the injection doesnt take long so don't worry about that.  Silvie also didn't eat the day after but after a pill of some kind to kick start her appetite she was munching away.  If Misa has it on Thurs or Fri he will probably be in for at last 3-4 weeks to get rid of all his radio activeness but  that will give you time to get better and plan his welcome home party with the others :Luv:

SOPHIE THE VET TREATING MISA AT LANGFORD HAS JUST RUNG  ;D ;D

MISA IS DOING VERY WELL AND MOVING A LOT BETTERNOWHE IS ON METACAM.THEY TRIED THE OTHERDRUG WITHHIM BUT WASONLY A PAINKILLER ANDNOTEFFECTIVE.

SHE SAIDTHAT METACAM IS PAINKILLER AND ALSO ANTIINFLAMMATORY SO WORKS BETTER AND THEYFELT FOR HIS QUALITY OF LIFE THIS WAS THEBETTER OPTION. HEISNOWUSINGTHE LITTER TRAY BETTER ANDTHEYTHINKTHISHAS ALSOMADE A DIFFERENCE.

SHE SAID HIS KIDNEY READINGS ARE NOT THAT BAD BUT HIS URINE STRENGTH COULDINDICATE AN UNDERLYING KIDNEY PROBLEMBUT THEYWONT KNOW UNTILAFTER THE RADIO TREATMENT.

HE WILLBE TREATED EITHER THUROR FRIDAY DEPENDING WHEN THE IODINE ARRIVES AND THEY WILL RING ME TOMORROW AND SOPHIE WILL RING AFTER TREATMENT THEN A NURSE EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS.

IASKED IF HE WOUD HAVE ANY EFFECTS FROM THE INJECTION AND SHE SAYS ITS NOT EXPECTED ALTHOUGH SOME CATS HAVE A SLIGHT ITCHING AROUND THE INJECTION SITE BUT 2% OR UNDER.

WE ALSO DISCUSSED HOW LONG HE WOULD STAY ANDHE WILLSTAY UNTILHE CANRETURN AS A NORMALCAT AGAIN IE RADIO ACTIVE FREE AS I WILLNOT BE ABLETO COPE OTHERWISE ANDSHESAYS YES IT MUST BE WHATISRIGHT FORHIM AND FOR ME.

HE HAS HACKED UP A SMALL FURBALL AND LEFT IT IN HIS BED ANDI WAS SUPRISED TOBE ASKEDIFTHAT HAPPENS HERE BUT YES BEINGA LONGBHAIRED CAT  ;D

SHE SAYS ITS VERY IMPORTANT THAT HE IS EATING AND HE IS.

I FEEL A LOT MORE POSITIVE NOW THAN YESTERDAY AND COUDNT THINKOF ANYMORE QUESTIONS.

SO LOVE TO MISA    , I AM THINKING OF YOU ALL THE TIME AND HOPE YOU GET A COMPLETE CURE AND COME HOME  FIT  AND HEALTHY AND PUTTING ON WEIGHT.

SHE ALSO SAID SOMETHING ELSE AND HAVE FORGOTTEN SINCE LAPPY WOULDNT SWITCH ON AND WANTED THIS TO BE THE RECORD........GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR WHAT WAS IT.

OH YES MISA WOULD BE SEDATED FOR THE INJECTION SO IT WAS SAFE FOR EVERYBODY AND TO ENSURE HE GOT THE FULL DOSE.

HAVE CLEARED THE SPACE BAR NOW AND SEEMS TO BE WORKING BUT ON/OFF BUTTON STILL STICKING.

Glad he is eating well sounds like he is doing okay. When Silvie wasn't eating they did tell me and they gave her a pill to kick start her appetite, but that was after the RI jab, the next day.  My vets had a website, a bit like facebook, where they updated me every day and I could go on their and ask questions. Do they not have one? I was on it every day asking questions, just for peace of mind. it was called Vetstoria.

Yes, they should, but i guess sometimes when they're busy getting on with the job, they forget we're the ones left behind, wondering what's going on.    :-:  Chin up, treasure.  Chin up.  Misa is going to need you in the best possible health ready for when he and Sasa and Lupin are all back with you again, so you spend your time focusing on that, and not fretting about matters which are out of your hands anyway.

Gill

You have to trust them and let them continue to monitor Misa and treat as they think best.  They treat many cats in Misa's position.   Of course you're going to be worried.     But - he's in the best place for this kind of treatment.  There are only 10 practices in the UK who can do this kind of work, so give them the opportunity to get on with it, and instead let us take care of the worrying, eh?

BEEN WAITING ALL AFTERNOON FOR A CALL FROM LANGFORD AND NOT BEST AMUSED THAT I HAVE HAD TO RING THEM AS THEY DIDNT RING SINCE FRIDAY.

PROFUSE APOLOGIES OF COURSE FROM A SENIOR NURSE CALLED ZOE.

SHE SAYS MISA IS FINE, EATING WELL..............HMMMMMM I WONDER.........SHE HAS BRUSHED HIME AND STROKED HIM THIS AFTERNOON.

I TOLD I HAD BEEN PROMISED THAT THE VET WOULD RING TO DISCUSS THE PROCEDURE WITH MISA FOR LATER IN THE WEEK AND THE VET IS CALLED SOPHIE AND HAS BEEN DOING PROCEDURES ALL AFTERNOON.

HAVE BEEN TOLD SHE WILL RING ME TOMORROW AFTERNOON.

I ASKED WHY MISA WAS ON METACAM AND NOT WHAT I WAS ORIGINALLY TOLD BY ARTSY BUT ZOE COULD ONLY GUESS AND SAID THE VET SOPHIE WOULD TELL ME TOMORROW BUT SHE SUSPECTED IT WAS BECAUSE MISA WAS SO STIFF THAT METACAM WAS THE BEST THING AND ITS THE BEST OF THE TWO EVILS. THEY HAD DONE ALL THE TESTS ON HIS KIDNEYS AND HADTHE RESULTS BUT SOPHIE WOULD EXPLAIN.

SHE SAYS MISA IS GETTING UP THE RAMP INTO HIS QUARTERS

SO AM REALLY NOT A HAPPY BUNNY AT ALL AND FELL ASLEEP THIS AFTERNOON WAKING UP ABOUT 1645 IN A PANIC AND THINK I GOT THIS OVER AND THAT HAD BEEN ILL SINCE NEW YEAR A LOT OVER THE STRESS CONCERNING MISA.

SHE IS UPDATING THE NOTES FOR TIME OF CALL AND NO I DONT WANT A CALL EVERY FEW DAYS I WANT ONE EVERY DAY!

I SHOULDNT HAVE HAD TO CALL THEM AND AM NOT AS CALM AS I WAS THIS MORNING  :censored: :censored: :censored:
