Ginny seems to be so much better now it's gone as well.
Eating well too .
I am over the moon she is feeling so much better .
Getting extra spoilt as well !
Food and litter tray upstairs as she seems to want to be up,there at the moment .

Poor Merlin is sick of stuff being put in his eye , bless him .

Ginny is  doing well, the vet has had a look at her tonight, says it swollen , but it's only been 2 days ,so it will be !
Merlin has also been as he has another small ulcer on his eye !  :scared:

Ginny seems ok , been watching she doesn't scratch it and they vet says to put the collar back on , the plastic one as its more protective, but she hates it so much .
I have just put it on for bedtime and she isn't happy .
Last night she slept next to my pillow without it, but I didn't really sleep as kept checking she was ok.
Not sure what to do tonight when I go up, will play it by ear I guess .

Thank you.
Feel a bit better already, more optimistic .
Ginny was a big worry as was scared her eye would burst before she had it done, but she is doing really well , just eating her 3rd Sheba sachet today .
Haven't got the collar on her as I am in nearly all day every day anyway.
Think I will just put it on when I go to bed .
She is back to have it checked at 4.30pm tomorrow .

Thanks Sue,
I slept better than I have been doing , but was up early.
Ginny is doing really well.
I put the soft collar on when I went to bed, which she hated and went behind the tg.
She was still there when I got up !
She isn't so disorientated now, eaten well, had a wash , so all is loooking good .
Just having to watch her when she has a wash so she doesn't wash over the stitches .
Just another 2 weeks and I will be out of here too , so hopefully a new start .

Oh Gill, just what you didnt need today, but am glad you were able to get the battery sorted, and that the taxi people were lovely an understanding.

Also am delighted to hear things went so well for Ginny.  I think I'd try to put the collar on her before you go to bed, but play it by ear.  If she's good, and not fussing too much, then it may be more comfortable for her to be without it.  Possibly safer too if she is able to get a foot through, or a claw stuck.

Sending soft and gentle ear rubs for her, and soothing vibes.

Thank you everyone.
Had a problem this morning and panic though as car wouldn't start !!
It's because I don't use it much as they are always blocking me in next door .
Had to run down the street and get a taxi , but had no money ! I didn't tell him till I got to the vets and said would it be ok to drop it in on my way back after I had been to the cash machine , it's was only £2 as only two streets away, but busy ,so didn't want to upset her .
Luckily ,they were fine and dropped it in, then had to wait for breakdown , battery had it, so then round to garage for the morning waiting for a new battery to be delivered .
Then had to go 20miles each way to the bank .
Expensive day all round, but not as much for Ginny as I expected .

Ginny is home :happy dance:
Everything seems to have gone well, she hated the collar ( they put the soft  one on and then took it off as they said she might be able to get her foot through and get it off ) and they put the plastic one on.
She wasn't happy and was cursing a bit, so I hope I have done the right thing and taken it off her  :scared:
She has come upstairs and gone to sleep on the bedroom floor, she is a bit disorientated , but I guess that's the anaesetic.
She hasn't eaten anything or drunk yet, just seems tired which is expected .
Any advice about the collar ?
I was thinking of leaving it off till I went to bed and then putting the soft one on her .
She is back for a check up Thursday and so is Merlin to make sure his eye is ok .
Then stitches out in 10days time .

Those good vibes certainly helped .

Gill.

Try not to focus on the op.  Instead, think about the time when you go to collect her, bring her home and make her comfortable.  Focus on later in the day, and about Ginny being  in much less pain and on her way to recovery.

I will be thinking of you both tomorrow. Don't forget that cats have no idea of 'deformity', they simply know 'hurts' and 'doesn't hurt'. I'm sure Ginny will feel very much better once she has recovered from the op

Thanks, I feel even more anxious and stressed now .
I know it's hurting her now, even though I have given her metacam.
I know it's got to be done, but feel sick thinking about it .
Be glad when it's this time tomorrow and she is home .

Gill get a comfy collar in small so much better than the plastic cone and Billie Jo wore hers for 4 weeks after she lost her eye and could still run, jump and eat normally and be a cat rather than the laughing stock for the family we have them from dog size to kitten size now as they become an investment and can be used on others of required

Will think of you both tomorrow x

Thanks everyone.
I will be glad in one way when it's Tuesday and done as it looks worse each day and she isn't happy .
Also still have to keep it clean and continue with the eye cream which she is fed up with .

I feel so awful for her and it would be a dam bank holiday , otherwise would have been done today .
I hate to see her so miserable  :'( :'(

Just hope she recovers ok  :scared:

Ginny has got to have her eye removed
« Reply #1 on: April 29, 2016, 19:06:54 PM »
Poor Ginny has never really been able to see out of one eye and lately it's been getting cloudy and not right, been back and forwards to the vet.
Tried eye drops and cream, she now has a big ulcer on it that just looks awful
After all this treatment , it's no better, so had to make the decision that it needs removing.
Now, I am worried sick about her too on top of everything else.
She is eating well , but she has a heart murmur and is 12 years old and not aging that well, but may be because of her eye and she will fell better when it's gone .
She had bloods done only a few weeks ago and everything is fine .

Merlin has also had two ulcers in the last few months  :scared:
They are not going outside at all until I move elsewhere , so no idea why they are getting these.
The vet says it's partly because they don't reall have a nose and their eyes seem to stick out slightly more that other cats .
Please send loads of healing vibes for my poor old girl and for her to get over the anaesetic.
Thanks
