Hi Sam

:thanks: for that. Hope your little lad Zephyr never has that happen again, little darling  :(

So much to learn, did not know cats could not reach there. Teoh had some more milk earlier and had a big splodge of milk in his fur after which he could not clean himself. He rubbed it onto his Daddys work boots instead

I will buy a flannel also now and work a nice pampering session into Teohs routine...  :)

Going back to work tomorrow, have been home since he arrived on the 18th of May and am worried sick about leaving him  :'(

Hi Debs,

Following on from the feline acne thing ... it's not that bad and can be treated easily enough.  It's not like human acne but looks like little flecks of dirt under the chin.  My vet says it's sometimes a problem because it's the one place a cat can't groom themselves efficiantly.

My little lad Zephyr had a really bad case of acne a few years ago which he kept scratching, and sscratching until he made himself bleed ... then he got a secondary infection  :innocent: but we sorted it eventually and he is fine now.  Since then I make sure he has his chin washed every couple of days with warm water and his own flannel  so we don't have a reoccurence.  It's now part of his regular pampering session.

This website will give you more detail on acne: http://www.breeder-pages.com/blog/?p=9

Aww, bless you for worrying about him!  That's the ball hanging down from their climbing frame, my friend took that photo and held it up to him -  Riley is reaching out to grab it but I can see how it looks like a big bandaged foot now  :evillaugh:

Your babies are soooooooooo gorgeous, does one of your kittens have a poorly foot?  :'(

Errr, No - what makes you say that?!

Phew!!!!!!!!!!!!  ;D

Well. Jules and I were looking at your bottom pic last night and I said to Jules "look at his beautiful white sock"  :Luv:

to which he then replied, hope its not a bandage and looked rather concerned  :'(

HURRAH!!!!!! All is fine, our mistake, sorry

Good Morning Sam

:thanks: for your advice on bowls. It is fascinating to read about the colours making such a difference and it all makes sense now thank you

I think young master Teoh may be just like lady Rossi as he loves the running tap and seems to prefer sneaking a drink from our glass tumblers  :sneaky:

He is also similar to Foxy and Zephyr as he seems to protest to his water being next to his yummy food and does a dance in his bowl!!!!

He enjoyed his first drink of milk last night, but now we realise that he was happy as he could not see his reflection in his bowl...

Ooooooo there is so much to learn

On another note...

I do have a 'plastic' Felix filling station/pit stop bowl its quite nice....

But Sam? Feline acne????? Sounds awful  :'(

Yep, I even had the cheek to run out of it for a full 24 hours, I have since learnt by my mistake and we now have 15 bottles to keep us going  :evillaugh:

Thanks Helen, we are off to Tesco's straight away!!!!!

As long as he is eating wet food he will be getting enough moisture (combined with the paddling and splashing  ... I assume he licks his paws dry or does his mummy towel him after a dip!  )

If you are concerned about him not drinking enough it might be an idea to to try different drinking bowls, in different places ... one of mine, Rossi, will only drink water from a running tap or out of her pint glass on the kitchen worktop   :innocent: ,  Foxy and Zephyr have a water bowl in the bathroon ... they both refuse to drink from a water bowl next totheir food bowl in the kitchen!  Cats also don't like to see their reflection in the wter when they drink apparently so a white bowl or a glass bowl is preferable to a dark coloured bowl!  (of course everyone will now post to say their cats drink from balck bowls with no problems! LOL).

One other point about bowls .. it is better to use china bowls as opposed to plastic bowls as the plastic ones can lead to feline acne.

In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

Oooo Helen

That must make you feel guilty!  :-[

Yep, I even had the cheek to run out of it for a full 24 hours, I have since learnt by my mistake and we now have 15 bottles to keep us going  :evillaugh:

We were just so worried as we have not seen him drink his water. He either sits in it or plays with it... Likes to go paddling  :-:

I've never seen Lucas drink water either although Riley has always got his face in a bowl whether it be water, milk, biscuits or wet food.  Bengals quite often have a fascination with water, Linda (Bengalbabe) had a big tray filled with water with lots of floaty toys on for hers to play with.  Teoh has probably got enough toys for the time being though :evillaugh:, your house looks very similar to mine - a branch of Toys 'r' us - my boys have their own room too although it has been ditched in favour of sleeping on the bed with me instead!

Your kittens are exactly the same age as him too and so sorry about Tiggy  :'( your avatar brought tears to my eyes

Thankyou, she was my special girl  :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

Oooo Helen

Jules and I were amazed at how much Teoh enjoyed his milk. I bought it as a treat and he sat and drank most of it. Then popped back and finished it. He now keeps going back to his bowl and just like your babies looks at us as if to say "where has it gone? Please may I have some more..."

We were just so worried as we have not seen him drink his water. He either sits in it or plays with it... Likes to go paddling  :-:

I can't see that it would so him any harm to eat adult food although it would be better for him to have kitten food if he will eat it, kittens have developed perfectly well into adults for years and years when kitten food didn't exist.  If you do try and start him on kitten food then be sure to mix it in gradually over a week or so, otherwise he may have an upset tummy.

Cat milk is fine for kittens, the Whiskas and Felix ones say it's suitable for kittens over 6 or 8 weeks (can't remember which) and Pets at Home do a milk especially for kittens.  Cat milk is a food rather than a drink though, I tried my boys on it as they are growing so fast (they'll be 14 weeks on Monday) I was worrying they weren't eating enough, I've created a monster though - they absolutely love the stuff and look at me pitifully when I give them normal food as if to say 'what's this - where's our milk?'

Hello there

Please can you help me?

I am a new mum to a lovely baby bengal boy - Teoh

His breeder told me to feed him adult felix cat sachets in jelly... But is he missing out on valuable nutrients by not eating the same range but kitten food?

I have been sent kitten packs with lovely kitten sachets and wonder if its okay to switch him to kitten food. His breeder is wonderful but said all her kittens did not like kitten food.

Also, is it okay for kittens (he is 14 weeks old) to have cat milk?

He doesnt seem to drink much water  :-: he just enjoyed a little 50ml bowl of felix cat milk  :P

 :thanks:
