Come on little Fred, OH has just said can we have a kitten?  :sneaky: you eat, take your medicine and you get strong little one.

Fantastic news. Come on Little Fred ;D

Sorry, but just a quick, very positive update, we 'lost' Merlin today when SW turned up, he was upstairs on the top landing with Bob a few feet away and the rest of the cats asleep on the bed again a few feet away in the other direction. Slow progress, but progress nonetheless :wow:

Fred is a good name for a little fighter! Our fred was taken home by the staff to pass away twice when he was a kitten, as he was so poorly they didn't think he would last the night, so he wouldn't be alone when he did. He fought long and he fought hard. Fred will be looking over tiny fred and willing him on. Xx

He is a stunner Sheila.

There was ginger fur all over the front room floor this morning and Merlin wasn't in, as soon as I called him out of the back door he came straight in from under the big bush. ;D. Obviously the Zylkene only extends to my other cats. :evillaugh:. Microchip cat flap comes tomorrow, Ordered the bigger one as Merlin is a bit of a tight squeeze through the existing one. :naughty:

Oh Sheila, that last pic! I'm smitten  :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:

Me too!

I fell in love with a ginger lad today - who was really not what we were looking for! Fortunately, a young couple were arranging to adopt him, so I was saved from myself.

Hubby aside, I don't know that Skye would have been right for us as Alf is a big lump of boycat!  He would 'ask' Cleo to play by jumping on her from the bottom stair. If that failed, he would try again from the next stair up  :evillaugh:

Thanks everyone. Minnie was fostered by Tad who went to enormous lengths to try to get Minnie well again but it wasn't to be. She was lovely as she as loved.  :catluv:

Lyn, Skye hides when she sees male cats, but is very friendly with female cats and kittens. However she was friendly with McAvity, a little Bengal cross who was probably her litter mate from last summer.

Booked in at Mitcham adoption centre tomorrow morning, I'll miss her adoring Amber gaze and sifter than soft fur.
Here are some pics of this weeks Waltham Forest Cats! See if you can guess who is who?

So sorry to hear that Minnie has crossed the bridge, thank you for giving her a loving home in her final weeks  :( This part of the 'job' must be heartbreaking Sheila

Run free at the bridge sweet Minnie RIP

You say that Skye was terrorised by the local tomcats? Does that mean that she would be best as an only?

Lovely update Paula, thanks and keep up the good work.  :gold stars:

You've all seen Tad's new kids? They're even more scrumptious in the fur, believe me!  :Luv:

Sad, sad news, I'm sorry to report we lost little Minnie last night. Her FIV became full blown and she couldn't fight off a mouth infection that was preventing her from eating. RIP, sweet, sweet Minnie.  :(

The wonderful stuff, however has not relented despite this sad setback. We trapped a family of 5 cats living in a garden. Mum and no1 son turned out to be quite wild but in only 5 days we managed to turn the three kittens from hiss-spits into fun loving criminals. They've all gone to their new homes already, the feral Mum and son together to a riding stable with Marvellous Madeleine and the kids to a lovely new home. I'll pop some pics on here later when I've got them shrunkened.  :)

We also managed to acquire adoption centre spaces for Little Buddy, his pal Margo, his Mum Allie and another young handsome tuxedo cat called Morris who was a TNR that turned out to be a friendly lad.  Two further TNRs and a helping hand for one of our local independent rescues I think it adds up to around 13 cats in one week we've helped. Not too shabby, eh?

So who's left you ask? I'll tell you.  :allears:

A little blind girl named Squeaky Dee we picked up had been living rough in a garden. Her BP is off the scale high which is what caused her blindness. She's worming her way into my heart very quickly as she's a sweet, spunky little thing intent on escape at a snails pace.  :evillaugh:

And then there's King! King is a wonderful rufty tufty ginger tom with no tail who had been terrorising his neighbourhood and hospitalising all the locals.  >:( He's feeling a bit lighter around the back end now and although he's swiped me a couple of times I think a bit of magical Zylkene may well get him back to pet status too. Another week should do it.  :evillaugh:

Then there's last but by no means least we finally caught little Skye.  :) She was unhappily abandoned when her eastern european owners left the house and her behind  :( She had been fed by kind neighbours but was being continually molested by the local toms, and hence was terribly scared. Once indoors with me she's immediately come out of her shell and is the softest, snuggliest adorable little petite cat, and at only 18 months old will make someone a perfect little pal.  :Luv:

Skye has a space at the adoption centre from Sunday, but I have a feeling there may be a home for her before then...   :sneaky:

OK must go to bed, believe it or not I'm still managing to fit a full time job in! heres Skye to melt your hearts   ;)

Two down, two to go! Bob even touched noses with Merlin last night, and then growled :evillaugh:, Merlin was sitting in the lounge doorway this evening looking at Emo, and she was sat on the bottom stair looking back, but she would not go past him for her dinner, I called him and he turned around, and then she scooted past whilst his back was turned, Pirate is still very nervy of him too, but he raced past to his food bowl, my Pi does love his food! :Luv:

I have to say my Walthamstow kitties are challenging at times but I would not swap them for the world, and they are no more challenging than the existing cats, especially Bob. :naughty:

We used to take Cleo to the vet to have her claws clipped. The combination of a reluctant cat, luxurious toe tufts and 2 old fogies with fading eyesight didn't make for a happy experience for anyone!

Ineed some chocolate in my life.... no, no I can't

I have had a chat with Sheila and she agrees that putting Merlin through another test is a bit odd and unnecessary. His claw that has emerged now that the scab has fallen off his paw, ignore me if I have said before, I can't remember where I was up to in his saga , is deformed and my main concern is that it will grow into the scar tissue. Hopefully the vet will say it only needs regular trims, which if the nurse will show me what to do, that is fine, he lets me touch his paw for inspection quite happily. Worst case scenario is that the claw bed would need to be removed. He is using his paw quite happily to jump on and off the sofa, he stands on his three good legs and uses the 'bad' one to open doors, cover his litter tray and also, bizarrely, his food with the paper it is on before returning to it. I assume that is a stray cat thing a bit like leopards caching their kills to come back to? He uses all four paws to walk, except on Vinyl, then he does three legs and a dot.

Now all we need is for the others to stop being scared of him, they are sociable cats as a rule so hopefully the Zylkene will calm down them as well and Merlin can become a fully fledged member of this fur club.
