I do hope the little scrap makes it

Very much hoping that Joe manages to find his way back to you.  Think we have some rain on the way tomorrow which may encourage him back?

Oh Sheila.   How wonderful the remaining kitten was able to be found and Theresa has taken the little scrap under her paws.

Am sorry Joe has moved on.  I do hope he'll be okay with that neck wound of his.   :(

Well it's been a roller coaster weekend.

New cat Whiskey is hanging on to those kittens and although she's got milk is showing no sign of parting with them. She's the shape of a kite from above.

Bad news, however, the lovely GI Joe has escaped and is at large in the neighbourhood. I've set my traps and seen him Round a few times but yes being chased off by the resident cats so I'm really worried he may move on. Another sleepless night beckons, and there's more than Joe at the root of it...

Got a call this afternoon (thankfully I hadn't had my usually Saturday tipple) to say a single 1 day old kitten had been rescued from a destroyed nest and desperately needed a lactating female. The rest of the babies were dead and Mum had fled, the finder thought this baby was dead too but she rubbed her and breathed on her and she moved, so she popped her in her bra and called us. 20 minutes later the baby is in my car and speeding home to Mother Theresa, and as I knew she would, (she doesn't bare that name for nothing) she has stepped up.  :Luv: :Luv:

I'm glad you've educated them about Tom Cox. His new book is out very shortly  ;D Absolutely love The Bear and your Bear definitely has that same soulful look going on  :Luv2: :Luv2:

Did I mention I can feel the babies moving?  :shy:

That would completely freak me out Sheila  :scared: :scared: :scared:  OK so it's the most natural thing in the world but being around for the birth?  I would be ringing the vets every hour or so  :scared: I should have married a vet .......

Do you ever sleep?

Ordered two pairs Dawn  :thanks:

Today we returned a cat that had been incorrectly thought to be a stray to its owner who needed to be talked out of going to have "a word" with the finder. Yikes, people calm down! Honest mistakes happen and remember updating the contact details on your pet's microchip is a good idea!

Jeez.

Anyhow, then the phone rang, the local vet who has bent over backwards to help set this thing up needed someone to collect a cat that was found collapsed and possibly RTA in their garden. If anyone is missing a one eyed ginger and white boy, he's safe and being looked after at Goddards in Walthamstow for now.

Trapping tonight - the last of the colony we've been working on for weeks is due to be caught tonight. Fingers crossed - there's a reason he's last - he's the smartest.  :sneaky:

Going to make myself a coffee and take it into the summerhouse, Whiskey hasnt favoured her nesting box, preferring to poo in there instead, so I've given her a couple of choices to locate herself.
Theresa and her kittens are in the upper crate and are watching with interest. Of course Theresa can now only come out when Whiskey is in her crate, so its timeshare on leg stretching.

GI Joe managed to pull the scab off his neck would again. He seems to like it here now and moons around the house flumpsing down in warm patches of sunshine. I'll find him a home one day, but he's welcome to stay as long as he likes. Photos coming - promise!

Thanks everyone.  :shy:

Today I've been to the vets with a pregnant female. She's so stuffed full of kittens she can hardly move poor thing. Vet says she's ready to pop in a few days so she's having her babies here at mine and we'll see if we can move her on to a foster home after the birth. She's been fed by the post office staff for the last few weeks and no-one seems to know where she came from.

Did I mention my bite wounds? Nasty turn with an otherwise lovely big boy I'd found a home for but he panicked when it came to getting him in the transfer cage. Antibiotics and a visit to the GP, I'll be fine eventually but both hands are a mess and is quite sore.

Can anyone recommend a gauntlet that actually allows you to grip?  :-:

We've also bagged a stall for CP at "Apple Day" a small Autumn festival in my urban village on Oct 10th, it'll be our first foray into raising awareness about neutering, fostering and adoption. Really hope we get a good reception.  :shy: I'll pop some pics on after the event.

yay - hope you join the list of purrs rescues for funding support - will be nice to have an active rescue member again!!!

What she said  :wow: :wow:

Well done Sheila.  I do so hope you find a way of balancing this with your active home and work life.  It's such a time intensive and sometimes deeply upsetting (although very rewarding) thing to do.  I do so hope you get some stalwart support and that people fully appreciate your fabulous organisational gifts.

Well I thought it was time I came out of the closet. I've joined the Cats Protection group and have helped establish a properly supported Rescue presence in my Borough of that London. We're attached to Central London CP, as there's no Branch covering most of this Borough (Lea Valley Branch cover the northern tip)

I'm posting this to try to promote similar adhesions from other members to their local Rescue group.

I'll be posting our Group successes, failures and questions. All our members are new at this and really can use the help. If that's OK with everybody?

We had a meeting of minds today at the new Cat Village Cafe in North London, just divine, cats obviously happy, the front of house staff are definite about Do's and Dont's to maintain this (and monitored folks) and the food was delicious! I was trepidacios but now see sense in this venture.

All comments welcome.
