Cats do not need cat milk. If you do decide to buy them some as a treat please remember that it is a food not a drink. You still need to have a big bowl of water out for them.

Or as my vet said, water it down a lot. I tried this with clapton and he still drinks it. I did about 2 parts water to 1 part cat milk. Hopefully watered down that much helps to hydrate him too.

Dark greens have calcium and soya is a great source too.
Cows milk has been linked to Crohns disease and is a trigger for many peoples IBS so the less the better!
The cows want it back

Dedicated veggie. Don't eat fish or any meat, but do eat dairy and free range eggs. Won't  have anything that's been killed. My cats, on the other hand.........

Right, I'm getting some broccoli tomorrow, even though it makes me f**t

Hehe!  F**t away!

A great way to get all that calcium is to do things like fish and broccoli bakes, and broccoli cheese :)

The person who told me that we dont need it after weaning also said it wasn't the best way to get calcium either. Just can't remember what the alternative was!!
Fish like salmon and mackerel are good sources of calcium, and for us humans green veggies, especially brocolli

Would love to know (went through the menopause early: 40-43). Need lots of the stuff; according to my GP I should drink a pint of milk a day. My GP sounds like an old telly ad!

I agree with you Desley. Although I do drink milk (need the calcium these days!) it was designed for baby cows, not humans.

IT is also a food for humans, like cats, we dont need it after we have been weaned either, which is also why there are humans who are lactose intolerant, as well as cats!!

Wow I didn't realise it was a food base, thanks for that tip.  I don't think I'll rush out to buy it anyhow my cats are now 10 and 17 and seem to do well with just water for fluid as well as their wet based foods.  This was just a quiestion out of curitosity more than anything  :thanks:

Amber loves normal milk... well skimmed milk anyway. I didnt give it her I just left the room and came back to find her head in my glass. As there was no ill effects I give her some every now and then if shes decided shes not eating or if its hot and she doesnt drink. Whilst saying that she hasnt had any for about 6 months because after the hot weather last year she suddenley started drinking water and eating more food
I have had her vet checked and blood tests were fine  ;)
love

I always thought the cat milks were something designed with humans in mind rather than cats.  My cat Tiggy used to have the odd drop off milk (in the olden days when there was no such thing as cat milk) with no ill effects but I never bought her cat milk as she wasn't overly fussed with normal milk. I bought some recently for the boys, they are growing so fast I was worried that they weren't eating enough so I bought it more as an extra meal rather than a drink - they are now officially addicted to the stuff!  When I feed them they look at me as if to say - 'what's this - where's our milk?'  They are now going through a bottle a day between them  :evillaugh:

They've tried Felix, Whiskas and Pets at Home own brand for kittens - there's no clear favourite as they are all devoured in seconds!
