Thank you Rosella and Andrew

Archie has been tearing round this evening and it is a long long time since he last did that ;D

I am beginning  to think he may have had this parasite for a few years now :(

He used his litter tray this evening and I cannot remember the last time there was no whiff like now.

It just makes me think how many time are our cats being diagnosed with colitis without testing them thoroughly.

Archie may well have colitis but this in my mind has been troubling him for an age.

Would not want anyone else to go through this

He finishes his panacur garnules Monday and started 14 days of abs today

I hate giving him tablets poor thing :-:

He has generally been so much more alert this evening. I bought him a flying frenzy from the purrs shop and played with him gently for a few minutes before putting it away. He is now fast asleep again

Here's you helping me and you've got a poorly munchkin at home.

Campylobacter can make humans feel rotten and the antibiotics can make them feel even worse so maybe your Archie is feeling pretty rough, poor wee sausage.

Hope he gets better very soon x

Thanks Carol and Allison. Interesting about the bacteria Carol.

I asked the vet where he could of picked it up from, I don't have any sort of chicken in the house, and he asked if Archie hunted. I told him he very occasionally gets a mouse but has not done this for a while.

Hope no one else has fed him but would doubt it as he rarely goes out the garden and is wary of people

Campylobacter is a common cause of food poisoning in humans.  Raw chicken is one of the main culprits, in fact at one time it was reckoned that the vast majority of chickens carried campylobacter on their skins and I doubt the situation has changed.  It's he main reason why the main supermarkets are now selling cook in the bag chickens so that people are not exposed to the bacteria on their skins, and the recommendation is never to wash a raw chicken because you could spread the bacteria onto the sink and anywhere the water has splashed.

Poor Archie, he must have been feeling really rough with all this going on!  In humans, campy is usually very easily treated but I don't know anything about veterinary medicine I'm afraid.
