Thanks for that Helen, it's really helpful.  I'm trying to get hold of the lady I was speaking to last night, but as seems usual with these urgent cases, can't now get hold of anyone!!

Lesley

I don't know anything about this Act but have done a quick search...  Have a look at this link, it contains part of the act as written by Haringey Council but it will apply to all councils in the UK.  It's also from a dog warden site but all animals are covered under this act.  I've just scan read it and it doesn't state that it's only for rented so depending on the circumstances this lady may be eligible for help.  Hope you get it sorted.

Ela, does it matter if it is private or council rented accommodation.  Just want to get some facts together before i get back to the lady this morning.

Had a phone call tonight from a woman in my area.  A lady has been taken into protective custody and has left behind 5 cats and 5 kittens.

If the lady lives in rented accommodation then  Social Services under the 1948 National assistance act should pay for all to go into a cattery until things can be sorted.

How very sad for the cats/kittens I still don't understand people having all these UN neutered fur babies

Hope you find somewhere Leslie

Had a phone call tonight from a woman in my area.  A lady has been taken into protective custody and has left behind 5 cats and 5 kittens.  Three of the cats are the mothers of the five kittens and I think another is about to give birth anytime.  Details are a bit vague at the moment but they are looking for temporary foster care, they say for a couple of days.  I don't know whether this means they have somewhere for them to go after a couple of days.  I will be speaking to the lady again tomorrow mornng for more details but I thought I would just put some feelers out to see if there is anyone down here who maybe able to helo if needed.
