In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

Introducing a new cat into the family help please.

Hello all,

A few days ago we adopted a cat from a friend who is moving out to Mexico. She is a beautiful cat very timid to stroke and handle and she is called "Smudge". She is around 2 years old the same age as our other cat "Slash" whom we have had since a kitten. He is used to being around other cats as we used to live in a big house with my sister,  as she had two cats herself. (Both slash and smudge have been neutered and castrated)

We have only had her a couple of days now and we understand she needs to get used to her surroundings etc, and that early on she will hiss and growl at Slash till she gets used to him.

Our question, is there anything anyone can advise we can do to make this process for both slash and smudge easier and more smooth. Slash isn't too bothered by her hissing and will just either walk past or sit and stare as if to say "come on what you hissing at". But we don't wan't to put Smudge through too much stress.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.  :)  :thanks:
