It sounds as if you have developed a regime that suits you both. I think you are right not to rush into more tests etc. Glad to hear that Yuki is well in herself

Currently, she's on Bozita Complete, and she has a little raw every week. She's had diarrhea no matter what she eats, but the arrangement right now seems to be doing her the best. I am not going to change her diet again though, she has been on several different diets already.

I've read up on FIP, lymphoma (which they suggested she could have) and feline IBS, and have decided to just see how it goes. I have spoken to four different vets already and I feel they've put her through enough for now.

I'll definitely try that natural yoghurt, can you recommend one?

You'll be doing your own reading into Coronavirus, but be assured that this is a very common virus, and most multi-cat households show it's presence. The usual strain is Feline Enteric Coronavirus which manifests as mild diarrhoea.

It can develop into FIP, an incurable condition, but this is rare and should not therefore be something you should worry unnecessarily about but do please get familiar with the writings before you agree to any extra tests, because you may find that even spending that sort of money brings you no closer to a solution. Having answers isn't always key to finding solutions, and these Health Centres can tend to get a bit carried away performing fancy tests when symptoms are idiopathic, leading to huge bills, lots of fancy charts and pictures, but no real value to your cat.

I'm pleased Yuki is gaining weight and condition, so you're obviously doing something right.

Did you try her on natural live yoghurt? Its sorted out Kuki's runny tum and she loves it. It will help counteract the negative effects of a months antibiotic too, just leave an hour or so between her tablet and the yoghurt. Also what foods have you tried and for what period of time? All my lot enjoy James Wellbeloved Turkey with Rice, it seems very gentle on the stomach and we have one grain intolerant old boy who is fine with this.

I suggest trying any change of diet for a minimum of 10 days to assess the behavioural and physical impact before moving on to another type, or you're not getting a fair assessment of the benefits.

May I also suggest getting a second opinion from another vet? Some vets are far better than others and yours does appear to be grasping at straws.

We've had some results, after our second lot of stool sampling.
Turns out that Yuki has Coronavirus, and also IBS.
And also another virus that I can't even remember the name of.

She's on a months worth of antibiotics, and the vets suggested doing biopsies on her colon to find out what's causing the IBS, and whether it's the Corona. It's unusual that she's had Corona for so long.
She's putting on weight nicely though and she seems very happy in herself, so I'm not going to put her (or my poor poor wallet) through the biopsies just yet, as the vet wants me to get these done in Winchester, and it will cost me more than £2,000.

Yes. More than two grand. I felt like I'd slipped into the twilight zone when they told me.

But she's doing fine anywho!

So disappointing that they haven't got any closer to knowing what Yuki's suffering from - but I guess at least there are certain things which have been ruled out, so it's not like no progress is being made. Hope it doesnt come to a drive to Winchester, and sending lots of positive thoughts in the meantime.

We have returned!!!!!

And it's been such a long time since I posted about the digestive issues!
Still they are not resolved, and hundreds of pounds later (and 6 or so different types of food later) we are still taking our journey
to discover the root of Yuki's digestive issues.

We're on to our second lot of stool sample testing with my vet, to test for the more uncommon gut related illnesses, and if that comes back clean
It's off to the Endoscopic probe/biopsy for poor Yuki!
If the Endoscope/biopsy comes back with no result, we;re off to see a specialist in Winchester!
She's definitely not going to enjoy that drive.

Fun times!
However I'm in the process of claiming all this treatment back from my Pet Insurance, fingers crossed I get a nice lump sum.

Sorry! Been so busy with kitties and work, I've hardly had time to visit!

Moshi's back to normal, but Yuki is still not right.
A few weeks ago she started to prolapse each time she want to the toilet, which is still happening today.
So the vet's got some nice full bodied stool samples to send off to the tab for testing.

We tried different food, a second lot of worming AND antibiotics, and nothing's worked so far!

Results to come soon.

Hopefully they will provide us with the answer to this mystery.

I'm glad yours cleared up well.
It seems chicken probably isn't the issue!
She's been gradually developing other symptoms, like colonic prolapse, dry retching, huffing and agitation.
As I mentioned further up, sending off some samples to be tested for god-knows-what.
Holding the stool tubs under her bum while she went to the bathroom was an... interesting experience. lol

Having had my Cleo with a temporary upset tum due to antibiotics I can only sympathise with what you are clearing up.

Well, Moshi went in for his neutering on Friday, turns out he also has Gingivitis, which is why his breath smelled so bad (for a 9 month old).
His bottom is a bit sore, but other than that you wouldn't even know he'd been to the vets.

Their digestion issues haven't completely cleared up, but they are getting better.
Yuki is no longer bloated all day, which is saving my nose somewhat!

Just need to plan the week ahead with a better diet plan.

Seems odd that they boh succumbed at the same time - maybe the Natures Menu variety you bought is too rich for them. Most brands have a "sensitive" version, worth trying the JW grain fee one too, but as they're both suffering the same thing I'm thinking tummy bug rather than food intolerance for starters.

Sending gentle chin rubs to help get them better soon and a clothes peg for your poor nose.

Coming home to a stinky house, and two cats with upset tummies, is never a pleasant thing.
Poor little Mosh has been sick since I've been home, and they both have runny stools and grumbly guts.

So, upon the vets orders, they're both on boiled chicken and rice for the rest of this week!

I really don't know what's caused it. The vet said it's most likely not worms (and I have wormed them not so long ago),
and she's not sure if it's really diet related. But, we'll see how it goes.
If it really does clear up, I think I'll be quitting the 'Nature's Menu' and trying another wet food, like Bozita or Applaws.
If it's not cleared up by Sunday, we'll have another week without the 'Wellbeloved' biscuit.

If neither of those work... well, I'm going to assume they've caught a 'bug' from somewhere.

Finding a 'Complete' wet food is tough. What really matters to me is finding a 'Complete' biscuit that can be complimented by different wets,
both fresh and factory.

How have you guys dealt with this issue in the past?
Finding a happy medium is hard going!
I've never had such gut-fussy felines before.
